Description: Aqua's keeping busy.


Aqua's morning was spent running errands. The fridge needed restocking and other supplies that needed replacing. That she hadn't noticed until she was nearly all out said a great deal about her life recently. Sometime after that she'd parked her bike outside of the library intent on getting some reading done. What she ended up doing was falling asleep on a book for a few hours. Later in the evening she would be out and about in the Outer Quarter doing patrols.

Honestly, after everything that had happened, she felt exhausted, but what else can she do but try to keep going?

I wasn't sure what I was supposed to buy. [She's not even sure what the difference between cake, all purpose and bread flour was...]

Still, I wouldn't even know where to start without help. I've never tried to make a cake before.

I must admit that prior to my arrival in Death City, I did not know how to bake anything. One of the other guests taught me.

[He looks fond at that moment, and a little sad.]

He was returned home quite a while ago.

Oh.

[A pause.]

I didn't realize you knew each other.

[forbearanced]

We were well-acquainted. Perhaps it was even pleasant enough for me to call him a friend.

I didn't know him quite as well, but he helped me when I needed it.

[forbearanced]

In some ways, such encounters are enough to determine the worth of a person.

[blue_wayfinder]

They are. [Since she was used to spending so little time in each world she visited, sometimes it was all she had to gauge someone by before she was gone.]

It's nice that there are so many people who are willing to help others here. [There were also more than a few that weren't but...well, bright side and all.]

Indeed. It is through those efforts and their goodness that the majority remain safe and well.

[It could be much worse.]

...it is. [It was because of people like that that she, and the other kidnapping victims, could return alive.]

Perhaps we should avoid discussing such grim topics at a time like this, though.

[A slight smile, as they reach the supermarket.]

That's probably a good idea. [They should try to enjoy the peace while they can.]

Aqua really didn't know much about baking. She could follow a recipe well enough but she wasn't sure what the difference between baking powder and baking soda was, and couldn't understand why the two weren't interchangeable. But she was willing to learn, at least.

...though she was sure that buying the ingredients was probably only half the battle.]
