Survival skills class -- desert edition -- open
Characters: Auron and anyone else who wants to make sand angels
Location: Desert right outside Death City
Rating: S for sandy
Time: Feb. 17 around 2 p.m.
Description: Auron teaches a few students how survive in a giant sandbox. With an assist from his partner
Yesterday's mission had tired out Auron, but not enough that he couldn't teach. He waited at the gates of Death City for the few students who seemed interested for a short field trip outside the walls.
((OOC: Comment on Auron's parts of the lecture and also have your own threads wherever. Threadjack!)

When Auron set the items down he turned his attention to them. He would personally pick the quicker alternatives in case times got desperate - man, he didn't think he'd actually show any interest in a lesson, but this was actually helpful - but maybe this longer method would be good to know.

"You let this go overnight if it's cold enough and dew will form. It'll run on the underside of the plastic and into the container. Then you drink out of it with the tube."

"Like when soda bottles 'sweat', right? You're just usin' it to your advantage." He didn't know the exact word for it, but this looked like that weird shit that happens when you pull something out of the fridge.

Auron nodded. "Good, Kanji. That's the idea. Except that you're trying to create a surface to capture moisture when it condenses onto things. You'd probably need a few of these pits if you had to stay put in the desert for a while but at least you wouldn't die of thirst if you just had one."

Still, he never thought he'd find himself actually being attentive for a class. Typically he spaced out or slept through most of his, much to the chagrin of his teachers. How the boy managed to get into a japanese high school was anybody's guess.
[ooc: Oh yeah, I remember watching Survivorman and he talked about this exact thing once.]
uh... I guess I'm still here..... orz
He's just watching from a distance, because he can see fine from the back and Kanji is doing well to answer the questions and ask other ones, too.]

Auron was honestly surprised how eager Kanji was to learn. Maybe the kid just needed something he thought was interesting in order to pay attention.
