Characters: Anise Tatlin and Jade Curtiss

Time: Feb 17th, morning

Description: ~~We're going to candy mountain, Jade!~~ Anise and Jade are going on a mission. This will be the first time for Anise so let's all watch her fail.

Anise wasn't too sure how to feel at the moment. It was nice to have someone back from her world to go on a mission with her but she was a little nervous. This was the first time she left Death City in 3 months. She had heard stories about how people had failed during their missions but that wasn't what she was worried about. It wasn't long until that she heard someone had died from one which made her wonder if she was going to share the same fate. After a fight with a certain girl, Anise learned the hard way that she could not do much here without her powers.

However, that event seemed to be pretty rare and most people have been fine during their first missions. It shouldn't be too difficult right? It was just guarding a certain place for a day, she was able to handle that.

Jade wasn't too concerned about the mission since he had already completed one before, but it wouldn't have been off for Anise to suspect that he was trying to look even more relaxed than usual.

"These mirrors are certainly very convenient," he remarked, looking off into the distance. "Why, we could even do a bit of sight-seeing before we have to return if my bones will allow it, that is."

"Yes, yes, of course! I'm sure that Death City would want the Colonel in one piece!" She joked before looking at the mirrors around her. It would definitely help but it doesn't ease her worries about what could happen. It did bother her just a bit that Jade was relaxed but what could she do?

With a sigh, she looked around the place some more. "Say, exactly how many missions have you been on?"

"I'm also sure that they would prefer me alive, but a city with such takes on death might have different ideas on what's most desirable." Even if Jade hadn't been relaxed, it was absolutely out of line for a soldier to be anything but confident, and he was equally confident in Anise's abilities even if she couldn't use Tokunaga here.

"As for that question, I've been on two. While it ended up in retreat, I suppose all that matters is that we accomplished our objective," he said, also looking back at the mirrors now as if suggesting they could always go back there if Anise was having second thoughts. "You're not feeling scared now, are you? We could always return now if you have something better to do."

"Of c-course not!" Yeah, she was scared but she was trying to show Jade that she could handle it. "I can take it on! Bring on those Kishin Eggs, I can handle it!" She shouted before walking in front of him and looking around at all the mirrors.

Although, knowing him, she had a feeling that he already knew that she was nervous about this whole ordeal. While she had been a guardian for Ion, this was different. She wasn't too sure what her meister ability was and she wasn't too sure if she was able to do a decent job with Jade's weapon form. There were a lot of things running in her mind but she just wanted to impress him.

Jade didn't even have to know Anise particularly well to know she was nervous, but then again, most people engaging in their first combat would have been. Still, her being too nervous could affect things and unlike Itou, Anise's size and lack of combat abilities could hinder their mission.

"Are you sure? I'm sure I heard you stammer just now, but it could just be my ears making me hear things I shouldn't be hearing. But if you're confident, we could do the residents of this town a favor and finish off those Kishin Eggs for them."

"Of course we will! I'm not backing down now, I'll fight until the end!" What are you talking about, Anise wasn't hiding anything, nothing at all! "We're going to help these people out no matter what!" With a nervous laugh, she walked up to him.

"What are you? Are you scared about this?"

"Oh, I'm positively quaking in my shoes," Jade quipped, despite all the evidence to the contrary. And he wasn't hiding anything either; fear was something only the unprepared had, and as long as pride didn't overtake their senses, there was only a small chance of them actually failing.

"Now then, shall we get a move on before the kishin eggs arrive? There's still plenty of time, but I doubt that they'll be punctual."

"Yes because I can tell that you are. You're so scared that you're not even showing it." She giggled before looking around at the building to see if anyone else might be here.

"Fine, fine, we'll be on the looking out for eggs! They better watch out!" Looks like Anise doesn't have much of a choice, she'll just have to fight this to the end. "We're going egg hunting!"

"I'm sure you're aware that you shouldn't count your eggs before they hatch." With that said though, Jade began to make a move to the affected area while going through the details again.

The mission was much like the one he had previously taken. Though kishin eggs had to be made or corrupted, the eggs had been weak enough that even the simplest of partnerships had been enough to take them down, but the end result had always been the same: Each time, the agents sent had been eventually driven away due to overwhelming numbers...but the city itself had not been swallowed up. If at anything, this one was likely to turn out the same way but he would have to be more careful.

As they walked around the area on the lookout for enemies, Anise let out a sigh before looking back at the Colonel. She wasn't going to say anything as it could draw out a surprise attack. She bit on her lip a bit knowing that she had to be patient. Anise was known for being extremely forward and charging into things but she learned a lesson from that. Still, just not doing anything was enough to annoy her.
