Sort of. I mean, if you can do all that and still resonate, it shows you're both on the same wavelength, doesn't it? Maybe it's not what your species wants to look at as "normal", whatever that's supposed to mean, but you could look at it as the two of you reaching an understanding. That you're okay with whatever the fuck you have right now.

[Mello's felt jerked around by both fate and resonance, as if they were conspiring to get him into something he didn't want any part of. As if kissing not sending their resonance to hell meant they were supposed to, or something similarly ridiculous.]

[Being okay with it is another matter, but if Mello were being honest, he'd admit he's all right with not being okay with it. There's a crackly energy there that he's never felt with anyone else, and he does love to walk right up to the edge and crane his neck to peek over it.]

[scoffs] Yeah, and who decides what's normal anyway? Or what should work? We're all just trying to figure out the system here. Maybe I'm off, but I'm usually not, and from my point of view, as long as you two can resonate and function in whatever you even label this bizarre fused quadrant of yours, and you're both at least willing to make it work even if it's not exactly the ideal romcom-caliber relationship you wanted, I don't see a problem.

[Mello makes a noise that's almost an echo of the one Karkat made, but with more amusement in it. Whatever he and the twit have, he doesn't see either of them ever walking away from it.]
