Come now, Hanabi! Being a wallflower is not the way to enjoy a party! Parties are about people!

[She doesn't quite have the heart to tell Gai that she really doesn't enjoy parties most of the time. Not when she could be training, or working on her homework, or even one of her hobbies.]

[Can you hear the reluctance in her voice, Gai? It's not as timid as Hinata would be in a situation like this, but she's definitely not eager to get out there and mingle.]

I...just don't really feel very comfortable at parties, Gai-san.

[Now Gai focuses on her, the smile fading to something a bit more serious.]

Are you all right, Hanabi? Is there something specific that bothers you? You are welcome here, you know. ...There is no one judging you at this party. It is only a celebration.

I know, Gai-san, and I'm fine. I really am all right.

[She sighs a bit. She's never gotten into her dislike of parties with anyone, and she has to take a minute to collect her thoughts.]

I'm used to parties where everyone wants to talk to my father. They might talk to me for a minute to be polite, but I'm supposed to be quiet and let the adults talk. So I'm just used to being quiet at parties and watching what everyone else does. Even my birthday parties were like that.
