( but how could she interrupt such a lovely, nostalgic sound. Xiao Qiao decides to wait close by until she's finished playing-- but well a little dance wouldn't hurt.

she only has a small fan and it's not exactly made for dancing but she's happy to lose herself in the music just for the moment. )

[As Shuurei finishes the song, she notices the other girl. She hadn't learned the other's name the time they briefly talked but she remembered her pointing out that a lot of things were on sale after Christmas.] Oh, hello. [smiles] I don't believe I introduced myself when we spoke before. I'm Shuurei.

( she twirls the fan briefly and snaps it shut, smiling widely at Shuurei. )

Ah of course, I'm Xiao Qiao! That was a lovely melody, Lady Shuurei. I didn't think anyone would know how to play the erhu here.

Sorry for the lateness!

Nice to meet you, Lady Xiao. And thank you! [smiles] I learned to play from my mother when I was a little girl. [curious] Were there erhus where you came from? They don’t seem to be very common here. No one else I’ve talked to tonight seems to have seen one before. [Xiao Qiao’s dance also seemed reminiscent of dancing in Saiunkoku but she hadn’t heard of any from her home country being here other than Ryuuren.]

no worries~

( she giggles a little ) Xiao as in the character for little~

( she assumes they have a similar language, and it seems some cultural similarities. But she's doubtful they came from the same place. ) Uh-huh! My older sister played the erhu quite well but I never really got the hang of it. I do play the dizi though.

What country do you come from, Lady Shuurei?

Oh! [It did sound somewhat like the word for little in her own language.] Would you prefer Lady Qiao instead?

[smiles] Ah, you play the dizi. One of my friends also plays a flute… [She trailed off, deciding it might be better to not say too much about that. She hoped Ryuuren didn’t intend to play another piece over the mirror for the New Year…]

I’m from the country of Saiunkoku. And you? [Shuurei wondered if Xiao Qiao might be from the country similar to Saiunkoku mentioned by one of her neighbors the other day.]
