[Looking up, Shuurei thought she had seen him at the office at some point although they hadn’t formally met. She nods and continues to play as she speaks.]

Yes, it’s called an erhu. I played back home but I found this one in a shop here. [It had been a nice surprise to find something familiar in this strange modern world. But being thrifty as usual, she had still mentally debated for a while before buying it.]

[smiles at the compliment] Thank you. My mother taught me to play when I was a little girl. [looks thoughtful for a moment] Erhus were common in Saiunkoku but they seem like they might be rare here. I don't think the Chief had seen one before either.

Oh, and my name is Shuurei. I usually work at the Watch office in the evenings.

Hyuuga Neji. I patrol the Financial and Service district- also in the evenings. I had wondered why you seemed familiar.

Nice to meet you. [Hyuuga? She had met someone else with that name before and there was a resemblance with those pale eyes...] Oh, are you related to Hanabi? I met her a while ago during one of those missions.

Yes, Hanabi-san is my cousin. You went on a mission with her?

Ah, that explains the resemblance. [finishes the song she’s playing and sets the erhu down across her lap]

[nods] It was a mission to help people trapped in one of those large indoor marketplaces. I had gone by myself but met Hanabi after I arrived so we agreed to work together. She was very capable. [Shuurei had been surprised at the other’s lock picking skills. They had been quite useful in completing the mission.]

Even still, I'm relieved she met up with someone along the way. Thank you for looking after her.
