[Mitsunari's theory is - if he's being forced to pay for it, he's going to be there. He's seated alone at a table now, drinking water as he narrows his eye at the crowd.]

It seems to be how these Westerners celebrate it... So long as we are to remain here, we just as well should partake of their customs.

( unexpectedly Xiao Qiao agrees with that. But really water? If they're going to pay they might as well enjoy it themselves. She slams down a bottle of...something. She was assured it was alcoholic. )

Come on, you can't be drinking water! If you're going to be a sore loser you need to drink! ( as do winners and totally unrelated people. basically they all need to drink. )

Trying to get Mitsunari drunk seems to be a favourite dead asian sport at this point...

[Mitsunari will just be staring at the bottle, looking unimpressed.]

Why? Do you do strange things when you're drunk? ( hey now, she's totally innocent. drinking is just a part of partying. )

It's a waste if everyone else is drinking and you're not if you have to pay for a part of it anyways. ( come on men, where is the drinking competition? )

Hmph... [But he eyes the bottle she set down regardless, holding out his cup that is still half-full of water.] Fine.

( she laughs lightly and gets comfortable next to him. one is just the number that comes before two, right? )

I'm touched, you would go so far as to appease me, my lord~ ( but she is not going to waste perfectly good alcohol by diluting it in water. she'll just steal a cup from a nearby table and fill it up. )

[With a bit of a grimace, Mitsunari looks into the glass that has been poured for him. He can hold his sake relatively well (except when certain Oshu retainers happen to be refilling his cup every few minutes) but Western alcohol was a bit different.

Regardless, he sets his water down and accepts the glass from her.]

[He casts a quick glare in her direction before raising the glass and quickly downing the contents. It burns his throat, the taste making his nose scrunch up and his jaw clench as he swallows. Squeezing his eyes shut and unable to resist making a bit of a face, a short growl escapes him before blinking and turning his attention to her once more.]

Not really, that was barely anything. ( and as if to challenge him she downs a full glass herself before pouring him another one. )

Let's play a drinking game! ( bright idea get~ besides for a party this is really awfully dull. )

Ah! My company would probably be more tolerable if you do drink! So you win either way!
