[Gai brightens up as he gently fixes the last few strands that had been messed up, and then the few that got knocked out of place during their mini-scuffle. He didn't even have to bring up the fact that tomorrow was his birthday! Which is good, because they're in a very crowded area.]

There! It is all in place again!

[Gai straightens one lock one more time.]

the cup in her hand slips from her fingers and crashes to the floor, and Bold's doubled over, clutching at her stomach as she nearly sobs with laughter, having watched this entire exchange.

[Hearing the laughter, Gai of course turns. Ah, it's Lain. Or Bold. Laughing at... one of them? Both of them? But at least if he's being laughed at, he's being laughed at today, and nothing can shake his confidence today.

Really? One day I shall have to judge for myself! [New goal on Gai's list - brush Neji's hair for some reason some day. He's done other things while Neji's been incapacitated, but never helped with his student's hair.]

Relax, Neji. I think she has perhaps had a bit to drink. Though it is not nice of her to laugh at you.
