Sweep the fire, make the breaskfast
[Closed]
Characters: Mushu and Temeraire with potential guest appearance by Toph!
Location: Death City Heights, Building 7, 1B
Rating: PG
Time: sometime before the big mission
Description: Who said domestic was boring?
There wasn't much to keeping house. At least none that Mushu had found yet. It was just making sure that nothing got lost and there was nothing on the floor for Toph to trip over. And nothing too high that might fall and squish certain handsome little guardians. Of course...cleaning up was the easy part.
Cooking. Now that was a little harder. Keeping a full grown dragon fed and sated was a pretty nice test of skill for Mushu. Especially since the stove's size kinda had him cooking in batches.
"Hey! Temmy-baby...I need ya ta find somethin'."

"I can take care of the cabbage, whilst you stir. What is it that you are making, Mushu?"
He used one of his talons to open the refrigerator, sniffed around the fridge with his tongue, and found the cabbage.
It wasn't long before he left it on the table as he was told to do so.

He jumped down to the edge of the stove, lowering the lame with his leg, "Alrigh' now chop that sucker up. Don't need to be fancy, just small enough for Toph to eat and big enough for you to taste."
no subject
"That does seem to be very well, for our meal before we depart."
As for the chopping, all he could do was use his talons. They were sharp enough, and he considered himself as being a very clean dragon everywhere.
But, Gong Su would always use knives. Humans always use knives.
Yet he was a dragon. And he could only do what was dragonly possible.
"You won't mind my using my talons, would you? They are plenty sharp enough..."
Though even if he somewhat sort of seemed to be asking for permission, he was already starting with using his talons to shred it as finely as he could.
no subject
"That works, man. What's the use a havin' claws if you can't get creative with 'em." Beside being helpful for the battle, the meal would be a nice distraction. Something to keep them all calm. Mushu wasn't one for meditation or none of that zen type stuff that the Chinese army shoved down their soldiers throats. So this would have to do.
"Not to small now, or you ain't gonna get a thing of flavor from it."
no subject
He only really knew how to fight well with them. Or using the gold and silver claw sheaths and look as stately as he could, as was the Chinese way for Celestials.
"It is only that I find it odd to do so, Mushu. All I've known in life is that I must fight the enemy and come up with different strategies in which to so. However in China I was told that as a Celestial, I should simply stay at court and study so as to be a scholar."
More slicing and dicing with his claws. Yeah, halfway through it all and he thinks it's bite-sized for Toph.

He turns around and gets a peek at the cabbage. Looks about right. Maybe having help in the kitchen wasn't so bad. Made the food come out faster at least.
"Kid, I know that everyone goes on and on 'bout honor and upholdin' family values. but that ain't everything ta do in life." Mushu peers into the pot and nods before lowering the flame a bit again, "Soon as you're done man bring it over."
"There's all kinds a stuff ta get into. An if y'all are into that strategy stuff I know there's games ya can try your claws at."
no subject
"My mother told me that even if I was still dead set on being part of the military... perhaps not in those words exactly, but she still said it would be best to study when I can."
As far as not listening to others if one is a Celestial... his mother's a Celestial. Yes, he's being literal in his thought process.
Ah, now he was done with the cabbage. He made his way toward Mushu, and set the chopping board near the other dragon on the counter closes to him.
"Though what sorts of things are you talking about, Mushu? I know about there being more to life than orders and honour and duty. One must also do the right things. Now you have me curious."
no subject
"Well, look man. It's pretty darn noble to try an do the righ' thing. Heck everyone I know back home was dead, heh, set on doin' jus' that. But nah I'm talkin' 'bout things like uh...adventure. Nothin' serious jus' goin' someplace without havin' to attack, maim and singe when ya get there."
He scoops up the cabbage as he speaks. Placing it in the pot and stirring every so often.
no subject
Still, now he is talking about adventure that doesn't involve no battles.
"Adventure where one does not attack. Such as when we played that snowball game? Oh no, that was a sort of battle..."
Fun for him does not come easy. The funnest thing he does is read. Mushu should know, what with there being a good number of books around the apartment, even more in his own bedroom.
no subject
"But fun. At least for you." He shrugged and hopped onto Tem's shoulder, "That's the kinda thing we gotta look for." A small pause before he grins, "And outside. Not in those old scrolls ya got lyin' around."
no subject
Of course, she happened to hear the bit about fun and kind of snickered.
"Tem, as much as I love you and your stories, Mushu's got a point," she said. Soda, soda, where was the...there! She grabbed the can and popped it open, shuffling back out. "Maybe you could do stunt flying!" From the living room (she was listening to an audio book on various martial arts), she added, "Just...not with me."
no subject
Much.
He understood the reason for that, however.
"Stunt flying?"
That was the first he'd heard of that term.
"I can understand why not whilst you are aboard." He looked over toward Mushu over at his shoulder.
"And I doubt you would like to come along and see. Usually it is a grand occasion when one does formation flying along with my wingmates for we fly together, break formation for a bit, regroup, backwing it, and practice how to best protect the lead dragon.
But stunts.... I never thought about that."
Would it prove to be 'fun,' though?
no subject
"I'll go watch but I ain't to sure about bein' a passenger." He's only four hundred man! He can't fly yet.
"Yeah like uh...barrel rolls and high dives. That kinda thing, and you don't gotta worry about enemies or anything shootin' you down here."
no subject
"I would not mind it if you are only to observe from somewhere nearby. But flying and making different sorts of tricks for the sake of being able to make those tricks seems..."
Somewhat fun.
"Mm. I think I should ponder on it a little more whilst I devise said aerial tactics."
Or at least, stay in the back burner until after they returned from the mission.
no subject
"That's the whole point man! No reason or anything 'cept enjoyin' to fly and maybe give a few scares if ya fly too close to the ground."
He grins, a michivious gling in his eyes. He umps back on the counter and wipes his claws on a wet towel before stirring the soup again.
"You go on an plan that all out. Meanwhile. Taste this." He hold out the spoon carefully.
no subject
He sniffed at it a little with his forked tongue, before tasting what Mushu was offering him.
"I dare say you are quite the chef, Mushu. You always know how to blend things together to make a wonderful dish, and this is no exception."
He would almost have said it, but he decided against telling Mushu that perhaps a bit more spice from some chili might help him and his palate. However, he now also had to think about Toph and perhaps she doesn't take to it as well as he does.
no subject
"Aw, y'all jus' sayin' that cause otherwise y'all don't eat." So, yeah he does appreciate the thanks.
"Sure it don't need nothin'?" He pokes at the pot with his finger before grabbing a different spoon to mix things up with.
