There's a grim silence in the clinic, broken only by the complaints of some patient that is still there or the adjustments the medical staff makes on the numerous stretches, supplies, and furnishings prepared for today's mission.

A handful of guards are stationed outside, both to function as runners and to keep an eye on the mirror in case something less welcome than their agents coming home appears. Some of them are Australian, the promised agents from the Oceania branch from Deathscythe Mjolnir.

"...Thank you, Tatsumi-san."

He couldn't deny it was a relief to hear Kanji say that, even if he couldn't quite ignore the nagging doubt in the back of his head. It would be nice to believe none of it had been him. Nice, and a little too simple and easy.

Still, he had meant it when he said he would never harm anyone. He could take comfort in knowing that for certain.

"If I can do anything to make up for my actions, you only need to say the word."

"I'll keep that in mind."

He reached for the remote that sat on the end of his bed, pressing the button. It'd be a few minutes before a nurse came in to swap out the IV bag. Kanji didn't want to be here any more than most patients here.

"...Y'don't think you can create a distraction while I get the hell outta here, can ya?"

Well, that explains the note on the door requiring extra patrols heading down this hallway.

"...I am not certain that would be beneficial for your recovery."

Raidou could understand why Kanji wanted to leave, but he was probably being held there for a reason, even if he didn't seem severely hurt.

"Well, this place ain't exactly beneficial to my sanity," he grumbled.

Kanji sat back then, grabbing one of the pens and the note pad. It wasn't his sketchbook, but at the very least he could doodle a little to pass the time until he was discharged.

"You see everybody y'needed to?"

"Almost," he answered. "Edgeworth-san has not been allowed visitors yet."

Which meant Raidou was stuck worrying until tomorrow.

"...That bad, huh?" He'd passed by a few rooms while being admitted here. Some of the injured brought in were in pretty awful shape.

"The staff here seems to know what the hell they're doin'. Dude'll bounce back."

"No doubt he will. I only wish he did not have to."

There was that clenching feeling in his gut again. Even if Edgeworth got through this with no permanent injuries, Raidou had no idea how he could face his boss after this.

Still, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and go see the prosecutor at the earliest opportunity. Avoiding it would only makes things worse.

Kanji had no idea what happened, but his gut told him not to ask.

"No use wishin' when everything's said n' done. Go home, man... sleep it off, then get yer ass back up here to say what you wanna say to the dude."

He nodded.

"Show him that that asshole in the cave ain't you by facin' up against what happened like a man!"

Kanji's tone was very different from the others he had spoken to, but no less encouraging. Raidou was silent for a second before his face was set in grim acceptance and he returned the nod.

"You are right. I will take responsibility for my actions, whether they were influenced by the Witches or not. After that... We shall see."

Perhaps it would be best not to think too much right now.
