Description: The doctors and nurses are scrambling throughout the clinic to help with the sudden influx of patients.

The first casualties of the invasion started to limp their way in not long after the zombies and familiars began attacking people in the city. Fortunately there are a few concerned citizens doing their best to protect the clinic from being overrun while those within worked frantically to help anyone who was injured. Despite the desperate situation, the clinic personnel have so far been keeping their calm and working professionally to help any and all injured who come through their doors.

The Contest system in our two worlds are kind of different from each other.

[She sits up straighter, and occasionally makes hand gestures while explaining.]

The Grand Festival is like the Championship, except for Coordinators, right? Hundreds of Contests are held all over the region, and Coordinators have to get five ribbons each. Then at the Grand Festival, there's usually one or two appeal rounds, and then after that there's battle rounds until there's one winner left.

Why would there be a "Contest Champion"...?

Th' way Ruby explained it, there's five different kinds, an' four ranks ta win in a row. An'...

[……okay she has to hold back a giggle. It comes out as a low snicker. Battle rounds?]

An' not tha' it has a thing ta do with Contests, but Hoenn's never had a League tournament.

Wh- really? Why? I've watched it in person, two years ago when my friend Satoshi entered it!

...And yup. Your Contests are completely different from ours. We don't have anything like that. But why shouldn't there be a Contest Ch- actually, the correct term is 'Top Coordinator'. And why shouldn't there be one? That's my goal!

[Seriously, why would they have a tournament up until now?

I don' know, that's enough about Contests! Our worlds really are different ones, after all.

Why would having a League tournament mean getting rid of the Champion? It only gives the winner the right to challenge them for the title, and that's after they get through the Elite 4. A Champion needs to defend their position, anyway.

...I think we ain't talkin' about th' same thing anymore. Here's what I know - Kanto holds its tournaments ta choose their champion, an' there's chatter 'bout their new system comin' across th' sea ta us. In Hoenn we get in new Champions by a straight-up challenge, but th' Association wants a tournament so that people will really challenge the Gym Leaders! But th' League's got enough on its hands right now without tryin' ta change things around like that...

...Okay. So we've even got different Gym and League systems as well. I wonder why everything's so different?

No. Only the people who were there, and that was just those two gangs, Satoshi, Pikachu, Takeshi, Masato and Wataru. And me.

Sapphire sags a little, feeling as though she's had the wind knocked out of her.]

Umm... the Orbs fell out of Pikachu and Aogiri, the two Orbs became one somehow? Then Kyogre and Groudon stopped fighting, and Matsubusa and Aogiri saw the error of their ways, I guess? So I guess the gangs disbanded as well?

...It was a weird day.

Now Haruka's curious as to how things went down in Sapphire's world, but... it's also not hard to pick up on Sapphire's discomfort. So she's no going to push it.

Eighty days - 'cos at the time I met Ruby, I was eighty days from my birthday. I'd heard from Papa of a boy in Kanto who became th' Champion while he was eleven years old, an' I wanted ta be as strong as th' Gym Leaders at th' same age, once I learned it was possible fer a kid so young ta be such a great trainer.

[Talking about that seems to relieve Sapphire's discomfort from the previous topic. She's not quite smiling, but there's a hint of excitement in her expression.]

Papa's great! He's kinda messy, but he keeps his piles a' papers in his office now I've bugged 'im about it enough. I've learned all kinds a' cool things from him. Before I left, we'd go out inta the woods together t' do research on wild Pokemon, an' sometimes he'd keep a Pokemon in th' house he was studyin'. That's how I got Rono an' Toro!

...It's surprisingly hard to hear this. Haruka's head droops and her fringe hides her eyes. Her hands grip the sheets a little too tightly.

Her voice is just as chipper as always, however.]

I... see. You guys must have had a ton of fun. That's great!

So! What happens once you've won all of the badges though, if there's no League to participate in? That's awesome, by the way! What you did, I mean. And that kid who became Champion, he's awesome too!

There's gonna be a tournament when th' League reforms, so maybe I'll do that. But since that journey I've been trainin' with Winona in Fortree, helpin' th' Gym Leaders - an' a mission fer one of Papa's colleagues.

[She lets loose a high, unnatural laugh.]

Well, all of this is really something, huh? I mean, to think, in another place and time, I'm an awesome battling trainer with the eight badges of Hoenn, helping Gym Leaders, with a papa who loves me and pays attention to me and his colleagues give me missions, wow! It seems like I even know the prodigy Kanto Champion personally!

[She giggles again. Her head's still facing downwards and her grip has only intensified, her knuckles turning white. There's hardly any black blood left in Haruka's system, but the stress and intense jealousy are more than enough to send her jumping off the slippery slope.]

Hey, hey, tell me something, me - does your mama love you just as much as your papa does? Mmm? Maybe even more? Wouldn't that just complete the perfect picture?

Sapphire has the same sentiment, stepping back with a "-th' heck-?" hallway through that rant and looking very weirded out.]

Wh- ain't got a mom! Ya're actin' nuts again, what's yer problem?!

[Her expression hardens suddenly.]

I told ya - an' I still mean it. Don' talk like ya know everythin' about me, 'cos we ain't th' same person. We ain't even from th' same world t' begin with.

[babby is cracking and overflowing into a festering puddle of passive-aggressiveness, isn't it grand?

She talks quickly. Her voice is beginning to break, and she wants to lash out before she can't talk anymore.]

What are you talking about, Sapphire? What could possibly make you think I have problems? You sure don't have many, and since I'm you, why wouldn't my life be just as good as yours? Why shouldn't it be?

Don't have a mom though? That's a real shame. Nobody to sing you lullabies and then brush you aside for somebody else? You've missed out on so much Sapphire. Oh, but doesn't that fit in perfectly though, with what I was telling you about our... situation? You don't need a mother if you've been given away, after all!
