Location: Casualty Communal, Rai's room
Rating: G
Time: Backdated to afternoon of December 12, after this
Description: How to make tea, by Lucy Heartfilia

They were very helpful, Rai thinks as he sets down the communicative device, willing to offer the aid that he might require. He supposes that would be the case in such a situation where they are more or less refugees.

He takes another look around the room that he has been placed in those few days ago, still a stranger to it and all the objects contained within. It would be a lie if he didn't have his concerns about living comfortably if he were to stay for a long time. His basic needs had always been met by Frankenstein, and it was regrettable that they had been separated like this. Never had he taken the man by his side for granted, and the lack of his presence is all the more apparent now. It was quite different, being powerless to such a vulnerable point.

Until his helper arrives, Rai sits there and thinks some more.

Skipping over to the counter, Lucy grabbed a nearly empty shopping bag. She gingerly shook it out a couple of times before filling it up with a couple of sweets. Mumbling a couple of words to herself and confirming the items in the bag, she smiled a little she headed towards the door.

She supposed the snacks could also pose as a temporary housewarming gift. It’s not like she owned anything more appropriate or attuned to the occasion, anyway.

She shut the door behind her quietly before using her free hand to access her communicator. Lucy quickly reconfirmed the room number before slowly making her way there. “At least we’re in the same building,” she mused to herself, as she walked into the elevator, pressing the button for the first floor. She patiently waited for the “ping” before stepping out and into the long and bare hall.

She finds his room rather quickly and takes in a couple of deep breathes before giving the door a couple of well-placed knocks.

Seeing the man from earlier she waved a little nervously. She lifted her bag of snacks towards him and smiled awkwardly, “I-I hope you’re all right with sweets.” Off-network meetings always did have a way of making her anxious.

Trying to take her mind off of her nerves, she instead took this opportunity to look around the room behind him. Though, this only lasted a couple of seconds before she quickly stopped herself and dissolved her gaze entirely. She figured it was sort of rude anyway and so she decided to start with something else. "Is it okay if I come in?” And after a short pause, she added, “My name is Lucy, by the way. Sorry for not introducing myself earlier.”

She never considered herself a professional at reading minds or seeing through people’s intentions, but she did consider herself a fairly proficient judge of character. And, at the very least, he seemed to be pretty polite. Though, it wasn’t something she was regularly accustomed to, it was sort of a nice change of pace from the usual destruction her guild mates would cause back home.

“Cadis Etrama Di Raziel…” she repeated softly before continuing, “It’s a pretty name.” Seeing him retreat, her eyes perked up as she quickly followed suit, closing the door behind her.

Lucy never really expected much of a reply to begin with and so she just continued on smiling (though it may have faltered once or twice in between, she was sort of nervous, after all.) She immediately headed towards the kitchen, placing her shopping bag on the table before giving the area a quick scan for the materials.

“Are they all here?” she asks, preparing to roll up her sleeves. “Sorry, I’ve never really been in anyone’s kitchen other than my own," and a slight pause, "oh, and you're new here, right? How are you settling so far?"

I'm sorry she's so chatty. ;;

“Really?” she asked, looking fairly surprised, “when I first got here …it was quite a mess. The only thing that made it better, really, was that my friends were here.” There’s a thoughtful pause as she leans over the counter, inspecting the tea leaves. “That and you can call adapting my specialty! Not to mention, this isn’t the first time I’ve been to another world...”

Her words trailed off as she grabbed a nearby pot, filling it with water before setting it on the stove.

Lucy leaves the stove on and starts to prepare other things, like cups and tea pots, though she’s not sure where those are and takes her time searching for them. When his voice breaks the standard silence, she almost looks surprised. “Friends?” she repeats, slowly starting to backtrack on their conversation. “Oh, right! Yeah, they were friends from home. Though, our reunion only lasted for a couple of weeks.” Maybe even less she notes to herself silently, still idly looking around for those cups.

“They were sent home, but I guess it’s no surprise. People are sent home all the time,” and despite her usual character, for once her voice was calm and completely even. Maybe even listless. But, at least she found the cups.

"Now just for the pot."

dsjg if it helps, I didn't even notice anything wrong! ;;

“Though, I’m not entirely sure…” she starts off leisurely, kind of unsure on where to start, “well, I heard it’s because BREW, the thing that brought us here doesn’t seem to have a good grasp on everything. That while it brings people here, it also randomly … malfunctions.” She looked uneasy about the last word, but she decides to conclude her speech regardless. “And I guess that’s when people get sent back.”

"Sorry, I can’t really explain it better.” Lucy nods little in thanks, taking the tea pot and placing it on the table before giving a curt nod to herself. “We can just wait for the water to boil then.”
