Description: General Awkwardness and Costume Shenanigans
IN THE APARTMENT
Her hands came up to set the headband with the attached halo on her head, making sure it wasn't lopsided before she nodded with satisfaction. Good enough!
Moving to the door to her bedroom, Yuna opened the door and stuck her head out, looking around the large living room for a sign of her roommate. "You almost ready?" she called when she didn't see him - he still hadn't told her what he was going as, and her curiosity was getting the better of her.
no subject
It felt kind of annoying looking in the mirror, though. He had a strange urge to kick his own ass at the sight.
Nonetheless, he emerged from his side of the apartment and made his way towards the sound of Yuna's voice, dressed in what was as close to genuine resemblance to his twin brother as possible. Short of stealing Dante's actual clothes, of course. He'd had to skip on the guns and harness, and Rebellion, but considering they're physically identical, it's no doubt convincing.
no subject
Which meant that, quite likely, most people would be. She did spend an awful lot of time with him, and it had still been something of a shock.
Yuna stepped out through her door as well, moving to meet him halfway, the drapes of white fabric from her costume (http://www.partycity.com/product/adult+heaven%27s+angel+costume.do?sortby=ourPicks&pp=60&size=all) billowing out around her. "Wow," she said, a little bit in awe. "I would say that you look just like him, but you probably wouldn't want to hear that, would you?" Teasing? Maybe just a little, but she's impressed.
no subject
"Normally, no, but for once I'll take that as a compliment," he replied. If never again. He took a moment then to observe Yuna's choice in costume. He certainly didn't disapprove. "A devil and an angel?" he mused. Definitely not like Dante. He never looked thoughtful, and Dante would've properly leered.
"Ah," he said suddenly, raising a finger for a pause, closing his eyes. There was one thing he needed to achieve a proper likeness. In what was clearly a matter of considerable effort and the culmination of a great deal of practice, Vergil produced the pièce de résistance: Dante's stupid, irritating grin. "There." He suddenly felt unclean.
no subject
Her eyebrows rose as she turns her body back towards him, moving a bit closer, then halting as his finger rose in the air to pause her. She waited patiently, and understood as that grin spread across his face. It was...eerie almost. She quickly decided that, while the likeness was remarkable, knowing that it was him made it seem like that grin didn't belong there.
"You'll fool everyone, I think," she said, closing the rest of the distance between them in another few steps and tilting her chin up so that she could meet him eyes. "I'll be glad when you're back to looking like yourself again, though. It suits you better."
no subject
"It's quite fitting, I think," he mused, his voice growing more quiet as she approached. The grin faded. It felt as unnatural as it looked. His expression eased more as a result of her sudden proximity and raising her face to his, though. Fitting, indeed. The girl was beautiful, and he was quite conscious of that fact.
"...Thanks," he replied finally, at a bit of a loss for words. Was that a compliment? Ugh. Normally he wouldn't analyze something so casual, but considering recent developments... Tch. It was one night. He could keep his mind occupied for that long before returning to normality. If that was possible. Damn you, Mustang.
no subject
Her steps slowed at his words and she pondered them. Had he just called her beautiful in a backwards sort of way? The thought made her cheeks warm, but she tried not to read into it. Yuna never had taken compliments well, as she tended to unconsciously not believe them.
"You're welcome," she replied jovially. The summoner was much better at giving compliments than receiving them, but that wasn't saying much. She still sputtered over them, sometime. "Where did you find this, anyway?" Long red coats weren't exactly commonplace, right?
no subject
"This?" he asked, pinching at the red coat absent-mindedly, "Just got lucky, I suppose." Even with plenty of places handling costumes for Halloween, finding it had taken a while. It had apparently been intended to appeal to an anime-enthusiasts. All the same to Vergil, though.
"But you're right, I'll be glad when I'm back to the usual." He was perhaps a little uncomfortable. Dressing like Dante meant going shirtless, which was something he'd criticized his brother for more than once. It felt kind of hypocritical. And just a little awkward. Of course, he insisted that it drew attention, but that's one type of attention that Vergil's not interested in. Not from strangers, anyway.
no subject
Yuna nodded when he agreed with her, grinning brightly again. "It'll still be fun though," she said. "I'm glad you decided to come with me."
The summoner turned her head to glance at the door before her gaze returned to his. "Should we go?"
LATER, SHOPPING DISTRICT
Up ahead, the summon spotted the familiar blonde hair of her cousin. "Oh, look," she said, glancing sideways up at Vergil. It was strange seeming him dressed like his brother, though it was still easy for her to tell the difference. No matter what he was wearing, or how his hair was laying, she knew him well enough by now not to be fooled. It was still amazing how alike they were though; twins weren't at all common in Spira.
Turning her gaze back down the street, Yuna's hand rose into the air as she waved. "Hey, Rikku!"
no subject
It was hard not to notice, and as was growing to be something of a standard between the two of them, it put him at ease. Not that he wasn't thoughtful from time to time, considering recent notions planted by a certain someone, but that could perhaps be attributed to Vergil being Vergil. He had been just about to slip into a brief reverie when Yuna pointed out Rikku.
"...Oh?" That brought his mind back to the present. If anyone was going to make the evening even more lively, it was probably Rikku. It suddenly occurred to him that he was doubtless going to end up being the voice of reason over the next few hours. Fantastic. He quickly amended his cool look to something a little more relaxed. Last thing he needed was Yuna noticing. Plus it probably just looked odd coming from "Dante".
no subject
Rikku knew she'd look great in that angel costume, and...was that Dante? Why wasn't he in a costume? Oh, well, he still looked good. Rikku hurried over, fake cat-tail bouncing behind her. "You look great!" she said, hugging Yuna. Then she bounced over to "Dante", jumping a little to plant a kiss on his lips. "Hey, sexy~"
no subject
Oh. Crap. He hadn't considered that there could possibly be consequences to dressing as Dante. At least not until-
"..."
Damn. Did his expression flush slightly? Vergil was always composed, and he did not blush. Far too belatedly he swayed back finally and coughed loudly. "Er... it's me, Rikku..." He suddenly felt extremely embarrassed - in front of Yuna, no less - and couldn't keep it out of his voice. And dammit, would he stop blushing already?! Dante definitely wouldn't blush! And he- ugh. He suddenly wanted to curl up in a ball and die.
no subject
She'd even gotten her mouth partway open to speak when the blonde pressed a quick kiss to his lips, and the words caught in her throat. She blinked once or twice, stunned, and more worried about Vergil's reaction than anything else. Her eyes flicked back and forth between the two of them as she attempted to figure out how this would end.
And then Vergil blushed.
Yuna couldn't help it. She really couldn't. It took absolutely every shred of willpower inside of her not to burst into uncontrollable laughter. Instead, she merely giggled, albeit with quite a bit of amusement, her shoulders shaking. "Rikku," she said, in between chuckles. "That's not Dante."
no subject
But he had, and she did, and it was.
Monkeywrenches.
"Warn a girl before you dress up as the twin she's dating, next time!" she said, flailing a little and stepping back from Vergil. "I mean...ack I'm so sorry, Vergil, please don't kill me I'm too cute to die!" Now she felt...dirty. Double dirty, because she'd just kissed her cousin's boyfriend-in-denial, and because she'd just kissed her sorta-boyfriend's brother.
...and then Dante walked in.
He seriously can't get through even one social occasion without some kind of embarrassment or awkwardness.
"It's fine," he said quickly. After finally composing himself, he removed his hand and added, "I'm starting to lose track of how many times you've asked me not to kill you now." It was almost amusing, actually.
lol

"You're not mad, right? I didn't mean to kiss him!"
She would pull out the puppy pout face if she had to. She didn't want to, but she would.
no subject
...
No way. He slid a glance across at Yuna and gave her a querulous look, raising an eyebrow. Did she...? Or was Rikku...? That raised a question or two. Serious questions. At least one that he'd purposely avoided considering in the past couple of days. But damn, now was really not the time for it.
That was going to annoy him all night.
no subject
Well, shoot.
"A-ah, Rikku it's fine," she sputtered for a moment, trying to quiet her cousin. "Of course I'm not mad. It was an honest mistake."
Er, that wasn't helping, was it?
no subject
"Not cool. You've already got your own, no need to steal mine." Dante's annoyed look was probably tempered by the fact that he was wearing a school boy's outfit. Complete with bowtie, shorts and knee high socks. In his attempt to lessen the humiliation he had actually started impersonating Vergil by slicking his hair back (again).
no subject
Tonight just got more and more awkward. She felt so stupid.
no subject
Now he just needed to diffuse the situation peacefully.
...
Don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh DON'T LAUGH-
"Don't worry," he drawled as nonchalantly as possible, "Not interested." Hopefully the heat had already left his face, and hopefully that didn't annoy Rikku. Didn't see how it would, though. It was all an honest mistake anyway - it's not like he had kissed her back or anything.
But dear God, a school boy outfit? Seeing his own hair style was frustrating, but if he could get through the next few seconds without a fight on his hands, he could worry about that later.
no subject
Yeah, she didn't want to think about that anymore.
Dante's costume, at least, made it easy to smile. She hid away any lingering disappointment or worry behind her expression. Now wasn't the time to deal with that anyway.
no subject
Even though Vergil was hiding his amusement, Dante still picked up on it. He coloured slightly as he realised he had just ran in head-first wearing the most ridiculous costume ever. "And you shut up." He hadn't said anything, but it was a warning because eventually he was going to say something and Dante didn't want to hear it.

The sly grin he flashed was annoyingly familiar though. "Let's look on the plus side: two Dantes." He was a little concerned about upsetting Rikku, so that was more for her benefit.
That and he might have been mocking his twin just a little.
no subject
Chuckling at Vergil's joke, Yuna turned her gaze towards his. "I dunno, I'm not so sure that's a good thing. I don't know if Death City can handle two Dantes. It might throw the entire city off-balance. You might want to change," she said, a teasing grin alighting her face as she winked one eye.
Yuna had gotten a little better at hiding things over the years. Though only a little.
no subject
Looking suitably annoyed still, he asked. "What's that supposed to mean?" He knew when he was being the butt of all jokes.
no subject
"I think she means there'd be too many Spardas and not enough city," she said. "Plus, yanno, Lady might actually kill one of 'em." She didn't like Lady.
no subject
At mention of Lady though, they shared the same expression. "Lady is the last person we need right now," he grumbled. She would have a field day with this. That would be assuming she wouldn't be furious at mixing the two twins up and being a little too familiar with the one she fervently hated.
no subject
The mention of Lady caused Yuna's expression to transform into one of genuine concern. "You relaly think she'd try to do something like that?" Leave her to take something like that seriously.
