In terms of costume choice, while Vergil hadn't gone for something horrifying, he'd certainly chosen something he was sure to have nightmares over at least once if he hadn't already in the past. It had seemed fitting though, considering the stunt that had been pulled over the network close to two weeks before at his expense.

It felt kind of annoying looking in the mirror, though. He had a strange urge to kick his own ass at the sight.

Nonetheless, he emerged from his side of the apartment and made his way towards the sound of Yuna's voice, dressed in what was as close to genuine resemblance to his twin brother as possible. Short of stealing Dante's actual clothes, of course. He'd had to skip on the guns and harness, and Rebellion, but considering they're physically identical, it's no doubt convincing.

Yuna's reaction confirmed for Vergil that his efforts had ended with something close to the desired effect. If she was convinced, then it was definitely close. He briefly entertained the notion of what amusement could be gleaned from masquerading as Dante for a night. The end result was not much. He wasn't immature enough to do something petty as revenge, and the only places his brother would be recognized would be a bar, a pizza joint, or a strip club. Or worse.

"Normally, no, but for once I'll take that as a compliment," he replied. If never again. He took a moment then to observe Yuna's choice in costume. He certainly didn't disapprove. "A devil and an angel?" he mused. Definitely not like Dante. He never looked thoughtful, and Dante would've properly leered.

"Ah," he said suddenly, raising a finger for a pause, closing his eyes. There was one thing he needed to achieve a proper likeness. In what was clearly a matter of considerable effort and the culmination of a great deal of practice, Vergil produced the pièce de résistance: Dante's stupid, irritating grin. "There." He suddenly felt unclean.

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh?" Yuna didn't know what an angel was? It was a strange thought, despite being aware of the fact that they came from totally different worlds. Something as common-knowledge as the concept of angels... He explained, "There's discrepancy between what they were in mythology and the more popular romanticized version. In simple terms, though, they're considered beautiful, serene and benevolent."

"It's quite fitting, I think," he mused, his voice growing more quiet as she approached. The grin faded. It felt as unnatural as it looked. His expression eased more as a result of her sudden proximity and raising her face to his, though. Fitting, indeed. The girl was beautiful, and he was quite conscious of that fact.

"...Thanks," he replied finally, at a bit of a loss for words. Was that a compliment? Ugh. Normally he wouldn't analyze something so casual, but considering recent developments... Tch. It was one night. He could keep his mind occupied for that long before returning to normality. If that was possible. Damn you, Mustang.

Shrugging one shoulder, Vergil drawled, "Heaven's entirely fictional, on the other hand. Some humans believe there's another place in the afterlife called Hell, as well, where the impious are sent to suffer. Given the similarities, it's likely closer to the truth of the Demon World." Not exactly the most pleasant topics of conversation, though.

"This?" he asked, pinching at the red coat absent-mindedly, "Just got lucky, I suppose." Even with plenty of places handling costumes for Halloween, finding it had taken a while. It had apparently been intended to appeal to an anime-enthusiasts. All the same to Vergil, though.

"But you're right, I'll be glad when I'm back to the usual." He was perhaps a little uncomfortable. Dressing like Dante meant going shirtless, which was something he'd criticized his brother for more than once. It felt kind of hypocritical. And just a little awkward. Of course, he insisted that it drew attention, but that's one type of attention that Vergil's not interested in. Not from strangers, anyway.

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-27 04:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Granted, Vergil had spent the vast majority of his life in his old world isolated away from humans, but Halloween had been something he at least understood. While the atmosphere in itself was relatively new, it wasn't nearly as foreign to him as it seemingly was to Yuna, which is a fact he found both amusing and mildly touching. There was an almost childlike innocence to the girl's perpetual grin.

It was hard not to notice, and as was growing to be something of a standard between the two of them, it put him at ease. Not that he wasn't thoughtful from time to time, considering recent notions planted by a certain someone, but that could perhaps be attributed to Vergil being Vergil. He had been just about to slip into a brief reverie when Yuna pointed out Rikku.

"...Oh?" That brought his mind back to the present. If anyone was going to make the evening even more lively, it was probably Rikku. It suddenly occurred to him that he was doubtless going to end up being the voice of reason over the next few hours. Fantastic. He quickly amended his cool look to something a little more relaxed. Last thing he needed was Yuna noticing. Plus it probably just looked odd coming from "Dante".

"Yunie!"

Rikku knew she'd look great in that angel costume, and...was that Dante? Why wasn't he in a costume? Oh, well, he still looked good. Rikku hurried over, fake cat-tail bouncing behind her. "You look great!" she said, hugging Yuna. Then she bounced over to "Dante", jumping a little to plant a kiss on his lips. "Hey, sexy~"

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-28 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Vergil angled his gaze across curiously as the girl rapidly approached. A cat? He had to smile just a fraction. It was fitting, in a way. And he supposed, very, very privately, that it was a little cute. He'd seen plenty of people in costume so far, but hardly anyone he knew, so it-

Oh. Crap. He hadn't considered that there could possibly be consequences to dressing as Dante. At least not until-

"..."

Damn. Did his expression flush slightly? Vergil was always composed, and he did not blush. Far too belatedly he swayed back finally and coughed loudly. "Er... it's me, Rikku..." He suddenly felt extremely embarrassed - in front of Yuna, no less - and couldn't keep it out of his voice. And dammit, would he stop blushing already?! Dante definitely wouldn't blush! And he- ugh. He suddenly wanted to curl up in a ball and die.

[identity profile] pickinurpockets.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
For a moment, Rikku just stood there, not believing that this was really happening. There was no way...

But he had, and she did, and it was.

Monkeywrenches.

"Warn a girl before you dress up as the twin she's dating, next time!" she said, flailing a little and stepping back from Vergil. "I mean...ack I'm so sorry, Vergil, please don't kill me I'm too cute to die!" Now she felt...dirty. Double dirty, because she'd just kissed her cousin's boyfriend-in-denial, and because she'd just kissed her sorta-boyfriend's brother.

...and then Dante walked in.

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
For the love of... Between Yuna's giggles of mirth and Rikku's pleading for mercy, Vergil couldn't help but cover his face with a hand momentarily. Why? Why is it always like this?

He seriously can't get through even one social occasion without some kind of embarrassment or awkwardness.

"It's fine," he said quickly. After finally composing himself, he removed his hand and added, "I'm starting to lose track of how many times you've asked me not to kill you now." It was almost amusing, actually.

[identity profile] pickinurpockets.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Rikku nodded at Vergil before whirling around and grabbing Yunie's hand.

"You're not mad, right? I didn't mean to kiss him!"

She would pull out the puppy pout face if she had to. She didn't want to, but she would.

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That drew out a surprised blink from Vergil. Fervent apologies to him he could understand, but to Yuna? Clearly she didn't mind, given the giggling, by why would she? It's not like-

...

No way. He slid a glance across at Yuna and gave her a querulous look, raising an eyebrow. Did she...? Or was Rikku...? That raised a question or two. Serious questions. At least one that he'd purposely avoided considering in the past couple of days. But damn, now was really not the time for it.

That was going to annoy him all night.

[identity profile] wittyreplyhere.livejournal.com 2011-03-29 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
To be quite honest, Dante had seen the whole thing, when he had been about to walk over and demand what the fuck Vergil was thinking when he saw Rikku appear and kiss him. Now to hell with letting everyone see his embarrassing as hell costume (Thank you Genesis)

"Not cool. You've already got your own, no need to steal mine." Dante's annoyed look was probably tempered by the fact that he was wearing a school boy's outfit. Complete with bowtie, shorts and knee high socks. In his attempt to lessen the humiliation he had actually started impersonating Vergil by slicking his hair back (again).

"Okay, that's--Dante!" Rikku spun around to face her twin, hopping from foot to foot. He must've seen what had happened, and he sounded pretty mad about it. She debated the pros and cons of tackling Dante and apologizing; the pros outweighed the cons and Rikku tackled Dante in a hug, ignoring his costume for now. "I swear, if I'd'a known it wasn't you, I would've never kissed him!"

Tonight just got more and more awkward. She felt so stupid.

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that certainly succeeded in running all thoughts, good and bad, right out of his head. For a moment he'd almost felt a little light-headed between the embarrassment and Yuna's sudden reaction. He'd talk to her later, once he knew what to say. For now at least the sudden sight of his brother dispelled his own awkwardness.

Now he just needed to diffuse the situation peacefully.

...

Don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh don't laugh DON'T LAUGH-

"Don't worry," he drawled as nonchalantly as possible, "Not interested." Hopefully the heat had already left his face, and hopefully that didn't annoy Rikku. Didn't see how it would, though. It was all an honest mistake anyway - it's not like he had kissed her back or anything.

But dear God, a school boy outfit? Seeing his own hair style was frustrating, but if he could get through the next few seconds without a fight on his hands, he could worry about that later.

[identity profile] wittyreplyhere.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Especially due to his costume, he rather looked like he was sulking. "I thought you said he was nothing like me!"

Even though Vergil was hiding his amusement, Dante still picked up on it. He coloured slightly as he realised he had just ran in head-first wearing the most ridiculous costume ever. "And you shut up." He hadn't said anything, but it was a warning because eventually he was going to say something and Dante didn't want to hear it.

[identity profile] pickinurpockets.livejournal.com 2011-03-30 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, when your twin brother's walking around wearing your clothes, people're gonna get confused!" Rikku pointed out. She stood on her toes (again) to give the real Dante a kiss. "I'm really sorry, Dante! I'll make it up to you, promise?"

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-03-31 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"To be fair, I did put a decent effort into it," Vergil said moderating his voice accordingly. It wasn't a perfect resemblance, but he could sound mostly like Dante. He hadn't spent nearly enough years yelling like a dumbass all the time to quite have the same timbre.

The sly grin he flashed was annoyingly familiar though. "Let's look on the plus side: two Dantes." He was a little concerned about upsetting Rikku, so that was more for her benefit.

That and he might have been mocking his twin just a little.

The kiss improved things, but he wasn't about to just admit that. He had an image to uphold here! It wouldn't do for it to be known that Dante was easy. It would totally kill his reputation as a suave ladies man (He did actually have this reputation with the ladies in the Red Light District).

Looking suitably annoyed still, he asked. "What's that supposed to mean?" He knew when he was being the butt of all jokes.

[identity profile] pickinurpockets.livejournal.com 2011-04-03 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Rikku had to agree with Yuna--two Dantes would be a little much, if only because eventually they'd have a challenge to see who could woo more of the women and that could only end badly. But she wasn't going to say that.

"I think she means there'd be too many Spardas and not enough city," she said. "Plus, yanno, Lady might actually kill one of 'em." She didn't like Lady.

[identity profile] blue-darkslayer.livejournal.com 2011-04-03 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Vergil snorted quietly with amusement. The city could barely handle two Spardas as is, let alone two of the same kind. Despite his best efforts, they always seemed to run into each other. Why did the city have to be so small? At least he could concede that Dante's annoyance made him look a lot more like the older twin, rather than the younger.

At mention of Lady though, they shared the same expression. "Lady is the last person we need right now," he grumbled. She would have a field day with this. That would be assuming she wouldn't be furious at mixing the two twins up and being a little too familiar with the one she fervently hated.

[identity profile] wittyreplyhere.livejournal.com 2011-04-09 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
"No way she wouldn't..." And then Dante remembered all the times she'd shot at him. Without warning and before she knew it wouldn't kill him. Lady didn't exactly have fond memories of Vergil, but he hoped she had calmed down enough not to try kill him on sight. "Besides twins or not, there's no way she'd mistake my handsome face for yours." Not to mention he looked like an idiot. Honestly who would think that Vergil would ever wear a costume like that?

[identity profile] pickinurpockets.livejournal.com 2011-04-09 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Pausing, Rikku glanced between the twins. "Maybe it's just cuz I'm around Dante more, but he does look a little different than Vergil, when you look really close," she murmured. "From behind, though...not so much." With a shrug, Rikku wrapped an arm around Dante as best she could. "So! What were you two doing?"
