Description: Cloud and Yuuri undertake Watch mission #009 and have to fight large cats. At least one of them thinks they are a hero.

Apparently there was a cat problem in the sectioned off zones, but he wasn't so certain why the Watch needed to get involved. He would have thought that some fish and maybe a warm bed would be more appropriate to keep any stray felines from getting too out of line. Of course, there had been something strange about a size discrepancy, but he hadn't paid too much attention to that when he convinced Yuuri that they should go together.

Cloud shifted his nailbat from his back and held it in his right hand as he turned the corner to come into view of the Zone in question. It looked pretty quiet so far, but apparently they were now cat-nappers. Really, how big could they get? He was expecting something about the size of a big alleycat, but maybe this place grew their pussy cats big?

Turning to look at Yuuri, he set his nailbat on his shoulder. "If we find any cats, just try to avoid the pointy ends." Which, unfortunately with cats, seemed to be three out of the four. "I'll show you some hero moves. You brought a weapon, right?"

Yuuri hadn't expected the call to come in, but when it had, the young Maou hadn't hesitated in accepting the mission. Why there would be such a concern with cats was beyond him. Unless, of course, the cats had rabies, then that was something he could definitely understand! Did they even have rabies in this world? That was something he should probably ask later, since he hated to think of anyone going through that pain.

Walking alongside the blonde, Yuuri peered up at the hero at the statement. "Aa yeah, I'll definitely make sure to do that," he muttered sheepishly. Yuuri just hoped that even if he did end up with the pointy end, that there weren't any nasty surprises waiting for him. A shudder ran through his body at the thought, but he pushed it back.

"That would be great! I'd love to see them," Yuuri said with excitement. Rubbing at the back of his head at the question, he smiled sheepishly. "I don't actually have a weapon, sorry."

His expression brightened at the thought that Cloud would show him that. He couldn't wait to see his friend in action again! Sure, they'd gone out on a mission just a few days ago, but the young Maou always enjoyed seeing heroes fight like Cloud did.

"Huh--?" He sounded questionably while finding Cloud's nailbat offered. Glancing down at it, Yuuri was about to protest the offer before Cloud beat him to the punch. Looking hesitantly at his friend, the young Maou tentatively reached forward as he asked, "If you're sure..."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
There was a familiar weight felt in his hands as Cloud placed the handle against his palm. It had been months since he'd last picked up a baseball bat, and he couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic over the whole feeling. Maybe he should find someone to be a part of his battery team, but the thought drew back memories of Conrad, and Yuuri quickly pushed it away.

"Yeah, I can swing it without any problems. Thank you Cloud," Yuuri said with a bright smile. He didn't hesitate in following after Cloud, and quickened his pace to walk alongside his friend. "Do you really think that cats could be such a problem here?"

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Another test by Mustang? Oh, the thieving thing. Yuuri definitely hoped that it was nothing like that. While he had forgiven them for what had happened, it didn't mean that he liked it. Too many precious items had been taken, after all.

"I hope not, but if it is, hopefully nothing's getting stolen this time," Yuuri said with an awkward grin on his face.

He slowed to a stop as he caught sight of something in the shadows up ahead. It wasn't until the oversized cat came stalking out that his eyes widened. "Eeeh? That thing's huge!" He exclaimed in surprise. Glancing up at Cloud with wide eyes, Yuuri's attention shifted between the large felines and his friend as he said, "Pointy ends! ...Right..."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
How could it be possible for domestic cats to be that big! He could understand their size if they were tigers or lions, but these were domestic cats! His thoughts came to an abrupt halt when he saw the white one charging right by Cloud and to where he was.

Eyes widening, Yuuri yelped out loudly before trying to scramble out of the way. He fell down on his backside when he narrowly missed the first attack, and while bringing up his borrowed bat, he called out in alarm, "Just what sort of cats are these?!"

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Yuuri wouldn't deny the fact that these cats definitely were of the angry variety. Whatever question ran through his head wondering why they were, disappeared as the crazy white cat turned and ran in to attack him again.

Panic gripped his chest, but it didn't stop him from scrambling back up to his feet. Swinging out with the nailbat, the young Maou gave a small cry as he ran forward with his weapon. He didn't know what he was aiming at, but all he knew was that there were teeth and claws heading his way, and he wanted nothing to do with either of them.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-24 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
The swing of his nailbat was clean and fast, but utterly useless as Yuuri's careless movements warned the cat away before anything could hit. Flailing to a stop, the young Maou wasn't fast enough to turn around in time.

He cried out in pain as claws slashed across his calf. Stumbling to his knees, Yuuri clenched his teeth in pain moments before teeth sunk into the flesh of his backside.

Yuuri reacted automatically as he flailed around to smack the white cat with the edge of his baseball bat. "Cloud!" He called out in pained alarm. The last thing he wanted to do was be a burden to someone else, but Yuuri knew that he needed help with this. Fighting never was his strong suit.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-25 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yuuri was trying his best to get himself away from the white cat, but it just wouldn't let up. His struggles were only causing more wounds to form on his legs, and Cloud's ordered call was almost missed due to the pain.

The next thing he knew, there was a heavy weight on his body. Panicking lightly, the young Maou cried out, "Cloud!" He could feel his heart hammering hard against his chest, and as he heard the cats running in to try and finish the job.

He couldn't let Cloud get injured, but his body was pinned beneath the blonde hero's own, and he couldn't move to try and help his friend. Something seemed to click within him, and as he wiggled his right arm out from beneath Cloud, it began to transform into the impressive blade of his true form.

That wasn't the only change within as his eyes thinned, and his facial expression began to sharpen. The blade was moved up just in time to slash at the cats attempting to land on Cloud's back.

"You fight to protect one who cannot protect himself. You have proven yourself worthy, Cloud Strife," voice deepening as he spoke, the Maou attempted to push Cloud off of him as he continued, "I will aid you in defeating these beasts in return for your actions."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-25 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
It was easy to see the wounds the blonde fighter had sustained, but there was no time to deal with them - not while the threat of the felines remained. When all was done, the Maou knew that Yuuri would take care of the wounds his friend had taken for him. As for his own, they too would go ignored while this battle ensured.

"The cries of innocent people can be heard from each swipe of your claws. While the need for nourishment is the basis of any life form, I will not condone the type of attack within the protective barrier of Death City," the Maou said as he sighted the white cat hissing at him.

He didn't remain where he was as the feline moved in to attack him. Unlike his friendlier form, the Maou moved with grace and presence as he effortlessly sidestepped the incoming feline. Smoothly bringing around his weapon form, the demon King brought up the sharp edge of his blade as he moved to slice along the side of the snow-white beast.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-25 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
The Maou effortlessly brought the blade up to carve along his enemy's side. While Yuuri may have been inexperienced with fighting, he was not, and he wasn't about to allow himself or Yuuri's comrade to perish against these opponents.

Instantly on the move, the Maou didn't hesitate in thrusting the bladed arm forwards to allow the incoming cat to impale itself on the metal. He didn't have his majutsu here, but he was far from defenseless. Once this cat was done, the Maou would focus his attention on aiding the blonde if need be.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-26 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
The blade sunk deeply into the flesh of the white cat, but the Maou knew that this battle was far from over. He saw the way that the claw snapped out to slash at him. Further injury was something he wished to avoid, and when it appeared that the cat would attempt to take him down o the ground, the Maou tore his bladed arm from the white beast before dodging and rolling off to the side.

He gritted his teeth in pain as the claws managed to slash against his arm during his escape. Rolling back onto his feet, he didn't pause in his assault as he leapt back in to slice the sharp tip of his blade along the feline's side and throat.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
The Maou saw the large cat dive in towards him, but he remained collect and in control. He moved gracefully out towards the over-sized feline, and without hesitation, the Maou struck out to end the life of the feral beast.

His bladed arm sunk into the flesh of the white cat, and he moved his body in the motion of the direction the feline fell down in. Smoothly withdrawing it, he flicked the blood from the blade while making certain that it was indeed dead. Once that had been assured, the Maou turned his attention over towards Cloud.

He didn't pay any attention to the bleeding wounds on his body, knowing that they would be taken care of before they became infected.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
His gaze remained fixated on the blonde fighter as Cloud wiped the blood off and stepped in closer. The Maou remained where he was, and simply nodded his head in acknowledgment when Cloud spoke.

"I am the one who sleeps within his mind," his voice was deeper, and sounded far more mature as he spoke. If one hadn't seen the transformation take place, the one who stood before Cloud could have been mistaken for an entirely different person. "His desire to protect you drew me from the slumber this world places on me, and so I use this opportunity to deliver justice and protect those he cares for."

The fact that Yuuri cared for everyone in this city didn't go by the Maou's notice, as he was certain it wouldn't bypass Cloud's thoughts either.

"His will is strong, but without valiant companions such as yourself, he will be unable to stand," the Maou said. Whether Cloud understood his words or not was not his concern. He had said that which he had wanted, and he could feel the power within beginning to weaken.

Glancing down to the dead felines littering the ground, he spoke, "Those who twist the wills and nature of innocent creatures will not go without justice for long."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"You placed yourself in harms way to protect this body, and your honourable gesture has not gone forgotten, Cloud Strife," the Maou said as his gaze remained fixated on the blonde in question. He knew well that there were injuries on the other fighter, just as many (if not more) than his own body, but he would grant this audience. "I fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and to right the injustice that's present throughout the world."

He watched calmly as those blue eyes shifted to green. The fact that the shape of the pupils changed as well, didn't go by the Maou's notice either. At the gesture towards his partial form, he subtly inclined his head in response. "I have witnessed their exploits in the future, and will do what I can to put a stop to their evil deeds."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Whether the blonde had expected any level of repayment or not did not bother the Maou in the slightest. He had seen what Yuuri had seen, and knew of the blonde hero's exploits. That had been a large part of the reason as to why he'd emerged, and why he had fought.

"I will go wherever my power is needed," he said with a nod. While he wasn't as strong as he was in Shin Makoku, or even his own Earth, that wouldn't stop the Maou from fighting for the lives of others.

The Maou held no doubt that they would win this war. It may take effort, but he would use every ounce of power he had to make certain that the future turned out more favourably. He was pulled out of his thoughts, however, when he caught sight the finger pointed in his direction.

His cat-like eyes slowly returned to Cloud's face at the words. "This may not be my land, but I will not let them run to ruin." Regarding the blonde seriously, he said, "I will take my leave. You are important to him, Cloud Strife."

His gaze lingered for a moment longer before his partial form seemed to evaporate away. At that same moment, the length of his hair returned back to the familiar length before his eyes rolled back into his head. Exhausted, Yuuri fell down to his knees before waking up fast enough to snap his arms out to catch the rest of his fall.

Panting softly, he felt his entire body in pain, but pushed it aside as he instantly glanced towards Cloud and desperately asked, "Are you okay?"

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The pain liked to further emphasize Cloud's words as he spoke of his injuries, and he winced while hissing lightly in pain. "Yeah, I should probably get it looked at, but you do as well. I remember the cats jumping on you!" He said with concern in his tone. Getting Cloud checked out was something that Yuuri wouldn't budge on, and he'd make sure that happened even if he had to somehow try and drag his friend there.

Watching the hand stretch out to him, Yuuri smiled as he reached out to take it. Pulling himself up to stand with a hiss, the young Maou paused as he stood up. His better half? It was then that he got the odd flash of what had happened, and he felt his eyes widen at the realisation.

"Eeee? I had no idea that I could do that," he said while rubbing at the back of his head in confusion. Shaking his head, the smile returned to Yuuri's face as he blushed lightly, "Aa you're just saying that."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-02-27 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yuuri smiled at Cloud's simple reply. It was just like his friend to care so much for others, that it left him feeling warm inside. Cloud really was such a good guy after all, and Yuuri was proud to have the hero as his friend. "I'm sure that Doctor Watson will be able to look at you as well when we get to the clinic," he said with a smile.

It took a moment to collect his balance after rising. Thankfully Cloud offered his support, otherwise he might have tumbled back down to the ground. As it was, the blood running down his legs was beginning to get uncomfortable, but all thoughts of that came to a halt when Cloud mentioned a partial form.

"Huh, I guess that I did," Yuuri said with a growing smile. It was painful to walk, but he forced himself to do just that as he walked alongside his friend.

Smiling fondly, the nudge drew out a friendly laugh before he peered back at Cloud. "Really? I couldn't imagine you with long hair. I bet you looked great with it though! Was it just as spiky as it is now?"

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
The support that Cloud gave was definitely appreciated, and Yuuri offered his friend a thankful smile in return. He may not have been able to heal the hero as he used to, but Yuuri hoped that he'd be able to repay Cloud at some point down the line.

He blinked in response to Cloud's question while he hobbled along beside the blonde hero. The was something that he hadn't thought of, amd that was something that clearly showed on his expression. "Me?" He asked before looking thoughtful, "I might be able to do it, so I might have to give it a try later."

Cloud's answer to his question had his eyes widening in suprise. He cloudn't imagine Cloud with long hair, buf for some reason, he could see it suiting his friend. "Eeh?" He sounded before smiling broadly, "I couldn't imagine you with flat hair, but I think that the spiky hair suits you."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
The mental image of Cloud wearing a hat drew an amused grin from the young Maou. "Do you usually wear hats then?" Yuuri asked as he followed along bside the blonde.

For some reason, Yuuri just couldn't picture it, but that could be because he'd never seen Cloud wearing one before.

here he comes to save the day, creepy clown is on his way...

[identity profile] jokeralwayswins.livejournal.com 2011-03-02 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
When Yuuri and Cloud had moved a short way away from the attack site, a low, slow applause began echoing through the quiet street. "That was an interesting fight, Yuuri," an amused voice sounded, before Hisoka stepped lazily from the shadows into the street, crossing his arms casually and leaning against a building.

"I knew you were special. You were holding out on me werent you," he continued, a small, amused smirk gracing his lips. He paid no attention to the spiky blonde-haired man who had fought alongside Yuuri.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Helmet?" Yuuri questioned before his eyes widened in realisation. "Oh right! You used to be in the army, right?" The young Maou asked with a smile. He'd almost forgotten about that, and it was a thought that left him wanting to slap himself.

He didn't get much of a chance to do just that though, as he heard that far-too-familiar voice call out from just up ahead. His grip on Cloud tightened unconsciously as he tried to pull a friendly smile towards Hisoka. "Aaa, what do you mean?" He asked even if he had a feeling he knew what the Meister was referring to.

[identity profile] jokeralwayswins.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Hisoka chuckled at Yuuri's feigned innocence. "You can't fool me, Yuuri. I am a magician after all." He 'magically' pulled a card from the air, and began spinning it on his finger. With a flick, it disappeared again.

He sauntered over to the pair, blocking their path in a non-threatening way. He leaned forward slightly, one hand on his hip. "That was an interesting trick you did with your hair," he murmured, his other hand snaking out and catching a strand of Yuuri's black hair for a moment before letting it fall. He leaned back again, crossing his arms casually, an amused smile on his face. "Long hair suits you, Yuuri."

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-03-26 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yuuri subtly peered up at Cloud when he heard the chuckle and the words the Hisoka said. "I wasn't holding out..." he muttered. Yuuri only hesitated in his walking for a short moment, but soon enough limped along with his friend's aid.

His movements came to a stop when he saw Hisoka approaching. The fact that the other Meister was blocking their path wasn't caught by Yuuri, as he was too distracted by the fact that Hisoka was actually reaching out to touch him. He flinched back automatically at the touch, and went to take a painful step away from Hisoka. "Thanks, but we really have to get going and clean ourselves up."

What was it with this man?

[identity profile] jokeralwayswins.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hisoka put one hand on his hip as his other wrist was grabbed by Cloud. He observed the pair with an amused smirk. Yuuri's nervous flinch made him smile inwardly. Good, Yuuri...you're learning to be cautious.... He made no effort to break out of Cloud's strong grip.

"Given the current state you're in...that's probably a wise choice, Yuuri," he purred.

His attention turned back to the blonde man currently attached to him.

Without saying anything, he raised an eyebrow at Cloud. Using his free hand, Hisoka unwrapped a length of bandage from around the top of one of his arms, and flicked it to land on Cloud's shoulder.

"Of course I wouldn't want him bleeding to death in the street," he replied. He glanced down at the hand wrapped tightly around his wrist. "Now, if you don't mind letting go of my wrist, I'll leave you to look after Yuuri's injuries," he said lightly.

[identity profile] a-r0yal-flush.livejournal.com 2011-05-05 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
He felt the arm around him tighten when Hisoka approached, but Yuuri was looking like a deer in headlights while the two eyed each other off. Yuuri didn't want to see either of them fighting against one another, especially Cloud.

"Aaa yeah..." the young Maou's words trailed off at the purring. Keeping close to Cloud's side, Yuuri glanced over as he saw the bandage being pulled off. "Cloud," he murmured softly.
