they made up their minds and they started packing
Characters: Rai, Neku, and other various appearances
Location: The desert and then the city, later.
Rating: PG-13 for possible violence
Time: August 5th!
Description: Rai and Neku go on an adventure to look for witches. Because wtf, they're supposed to fight them? Where the hell are they. Rai learns that his world's logic doesn't apply across dimensions.
This seemed like such a better idea a few hours ago.
It just didn't occur to Raimundo at the time that maaaaybe the way things worked in his world didn't quite hold true in this one. How was he supposed to know that the forces of evil would actually understand subtlety here? Big showy lairs were constants. They were like big dick contests but with houses and castles and evil armies of jungle cats.
Rai would work all this out later. Right now he had far more pressing matters. Like shaking off the big ungly monster thing chasing him and his new friend, Neku, through the desert.
"So what do you turn into again!?"

"So what do you turn into again!?"

Neku should have never looked back. But wishful thinking was just that but at least he was able to throw himself at his friend, sending them both crashing to the ground to avoid a strike. (no one goes on this kind of adventure, almost so boring at the start only to find KISHIN and running for their lives; okay, only an egg but it's the running for their lives that's important-)
Rolling off quickly and fighting off the building hysteria, he grabbed Rai's hand and tugged.
"Forget my weapon form, just run!"

It was this that it swung at them, it's tail just flying over their heads. It wobbled a bit as it regained its balance. It let out a loud hybrid of a hiss and a shriek and once more gave chase to them.

Rai didn't get the chance to protest. Instead he swallowed a mouthful of sand (desert sand sucked man, beach sand was so much cooler) after face-planting into the dune when Neku tackled him out of the way of the Kishin Egg's attack.
Sputtering and choking out the sand from his lungs he got back to his feet and continued running. Ugh no, they couldn't keep this up. And even then they would be leading it straight back to the city to wreck even more chaos. They needed to do something about this thing now. At least confuse it so it didn't follow them.
Rocks? There were some rocks up ahead. Rai pulled out of Neku's grasp and charged for the rock formations, running up the side and then vaulting off in an attempt to land a decent powered kick to the side of the Kishin Egg's face.
no subject
"What, why didn't that work?" He retreated some distance, looking for something to throw. Raimundo's kick looked like it would hurt, but considering that this was a monster... If only he could do telekinesis like before. He fetched a hefty rock and spun once, throwing it in the general direction of the monster.
That should stagger it, at least.

"What gives, man-!?" He sounded a little more indignant than concerned about their situation before the monster tried to snap at his ankles. Rai did a quick leap back, nearly losing his balance again in the sand.
"Yo, before it gets back up--" He didn't even finish that statement, he turned and ran, this time grabbing Neku's wrist and tugging him along just as he had done before.
eek. I forgot to track.
"Shi-" his words were lost when he realized that he couldn't afford the breath for that either, his fingers curling around his wrist. They shouldn't be separated here. "Quickly!" He closed his eyes and changed forms, becoming a lighter and inanimate object.
"I'm not an offensive weapon, so I don't exactly have skills that'll help," he said by way of explanation. But now, at least, he didn't have to dodge and run with him. The other teen could go faster like this. "So just keep running!"

They weren't really as light as headphones should have been, but then they weren't as heavy as say, Neku at full size so this helped.
Seeing the monster get back up, Rai settled the headphones around his neck and took off again. The weight threw him off a little but it was still better than both of them flailing around. "Can you hear me in there?" This wasn't weird at all.
"We gotta do something about this thing or its just gonna follow us back to the city!"
no subject
Though he did bring up a really good point. They couldn't just bring the monster to people who wouldn't expect a Kishin egg to appear in the city. And all of those people who couldn't fight yet...
"Right," firmer now, he settled on looking behind them, tracking the monster. "... What, do we fight it until it runs off?"
no subject
"I don't see any better ideas right now, dude." He'd come up with the when they came to him but right now...
They were in the middle of the desert with barely anything in the way of helpful landscaping or anything aside from sand that could be put to good use. His wind powers would have been reaallly helpful right about now.
But whatever. Rai's fought without them before, he can do it now. And backing down wasn't something he did very easily anyways. Rai dug his feet into the sand, halting himself quickly and turning to face the monster charging them. "Alright, let's do this."
no subject
He took a steadying breath and even though he wasn't any use in a fight, they were still - temporarily - partners. Neku took care of his partners. "Careful."

As it charged closer, Rai stayed perfectly still, poised. Once it was close, three feet at most, Rai leaped up and over. He twisted and sent a powerful kick to the back of the monster's head.

He could see then that this time, their attack had a better effect and but he kept vigilant anyw-
"Raimundo! The tail!"

DODGEROLL.
Rai just barely missed that beastly sized tail. Now he worked on trying to get back to his feet in the event the monster was going to get back up. He figured it would. It didn't seem like something to give up pretty easy.
But hey, That kick had done a whole lot more damage this time. Maybe they could actually do this. "Check that out!"
no subject
Maybe he could try it at home.
Right. Later, after they survived this. He focused back on the problem at hand. "Do you have any problems about hitting things while they're down?" Because Neku really, really didn't. Especially when they were that big.

Though that was probably because Raimundo wasn't all that heavy yet.
"Is it dead...?" He asked softly, watching as that attack made the monster still for a few moments.

It managed to get up somewhat quickly this time, backed away from them a bit, ready to retaliate should they follow, before turning tail and bumbling off.

...when it turned and fled the monk couldn't help but grin. Ha. Chase after them would you.
"That's right!" He called once it was a preeetty safe distance away. "You'd better run! Tell all your soul eating friends too! That Raimundo and Neku kicked your butt off and handed it back to you! You stupid ugly lizard thing! Hey! You're uglier than Chase! How's that make you feel? Huh? That's what I thought!"
Okay so someone was a little smug.
no subject
"It's gone now," he pointed out when Raimundo's victory wiggle and gloating dragged on long enough. He'd heard worse, before. "Good job." Really, if it were only just Neku, he wouldn't have survived the attack. Well, if it were only just Neku, he wouldn't be out here in the first place.
Details.
"Time to go back."
no subject
Rolling his eyes in exasperation at his own sarcasm, Neku glanced at Raimundo, wondering how he was holding up.
(Ugh. I'd kill for a cold drink...)
no subject
Man, he had sand in places he didn't even want to think about.
He miserably looked up once they were through the gates again. It was then his eyes settled on what looked to be a ...
A FOUNTAIN! Water!
"I am all over that," He mumbled to himself before picking his feet into a half run towards the fountain. Only rather than actually making it gracefully, a slightly out of place brick on the street caught Rai's foot and the Dragon of the wind went hurling into the fountain face first.
no subject
Unfortunately for the meek Witch her thoughts were quickly interrupted by the rather rude arrival of a Raimundo Pedrosa. When he splashed into that fountain she got absolutely soaked. Now Eruka didn't mind being wet at all--in fact she loved it, hence why she was sitting by the fountain to begin with, but she certainly didn't like clumsy idiots interrupting her thoughts and invading her rather large personal sphere.
"Hey, watch it!" she snapped, getting up to look down at her wet clothes. She'd been forced to put aside her usual attire since it was 'too obvious' and was now uncomfortably decked in a casual summer dress and sandals which left her feeling too exposed.
no subject
"Hey!" He called after him, alarmed when Raimundo displayed impressive footwork. Landing a foot on the side of the fountain for leverage, he reached down to grab him by the back of the shirt and hauled. Forget what he said about not being heavy - Rai could be a sack if he wanted to be.
Crap. Neku stared at the girl they had inevitably upset. He knew better than to plead for their case. Girl and their clothes and all that.
"Sorry." He said, ducking his head.
no subject
Until he remembered he needed to breathe. Before he could flail and remember how to use his feet and arms to get back up above the water he was grabbed roughly by the back of the shirt and yanked right out of the water.
Momentarily dazed, Rai sputtered and coughed out some water and shook his head to rid it from his hair. It wasn't till after that did he realize someone else was at the fountain and they didn't look really all that happy.
"Uh. Oops?"
no subject
"It's fine." she stepped away from the fountain and bit to grab at her dress and ring it out. For the most part she had avoided people while here. The less people knew her, the less attention she could draw to herself, the better which meant that for all those people she just couldn't avoided (such as these too) it was best to be as cordial as possible.
no subject
"Rai," he said at a mumble. "I think we should go."
