[OPEN] Earthquake Event

Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[Character(s)] [Location/Time] [Close/Open]
This in-game day will last a week irl.
trageteas: (epilogue - airpuff)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-04 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I'm glad you're in one piece. That was quite the shock, wasn't it?
thewarisover: (well i'll be...)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-06 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Just a bit, yeah. I don't think I've experienced something like this before, and I've been here for a while.
trageteas: (shady talking)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-06 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Nor have I, here or in France. Still, I think we can at least chalk it up to nature.
thewarisover: (ennui)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-07 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
I certainly hope we can. Admittedly, I'm bit worried at the possibility of it being caused by the witches somehow.
trageteas: (Default)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-08 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Would they ever do something so, well... mundane? I thought that unusual invasions and curses were more their speciality.

[But hey, might be wrong.]
thewarisover: (not quite defeated yet.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-09 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
I think what truly interests them is finding the most effective means to disable us. Sometimes a mundane method is best, in that direction.

[And now he's laughing a bit, shaking his head with a rueful look.]

Sorry. I must sound pretty paranoid right now.
trageteas: (Default)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-11 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't paranoia if what you're concerned about is realistic.

[He might laugh, if he wasn't too sore and tired to do so.]

I'm never sure what to expect from them, that's what's truly worrying.
thewarisover: (i'm too old for this.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-11 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they're just full of surprises.

[A little wry there.]

Only time will tell at this point. We'll just have to focus on what we can do now.
trageteas: (epilogue - stern)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-12 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course the man who holds Death City together would say something like that.

[His tone remains neutral, although in truth he's a bit bitter.]
thewarisover: (hum.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-13 01:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[That felt... peculiar. He gave Jules a curious look, but didn't push.]

Dojima's at home right now. I plan on going back as soon as I can, but... well. Will you be going back?
trageteas: (first appearance)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-14 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
I plan to soon, unless I find somebody who needs my aid. Keeping others alive is more important than my personal comfort.
thewarisover: (that works.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-14 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
All right. Best if you check with the clinic... they probably need volunteers down there.
trageteas: (heh)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-14 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
[nod] I will. Are you really going home?
thewarisover: (yeah well...)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-14 11:59 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. I might have to step out later tonight, though.
trageteas: (epilogue - nostalgia)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-17 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Busy as always, eh? But then again, I'd not know what to do if you weren't.

[It's not just Roy; his life has been almost like a sequence of making sure that very busy people don't overwork themselves.]
thewarisover: (nearly at peace.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-17 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
[That made the other smile a bit. He reached out and clapped Jules' shoulder.]

I'll make sure to rest when I need to.
trageteas: (calm)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-18 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Another nod, more businesslike.]

You do that.

[There's a beat, and then he forces a laugh.] Isn't this odd? I'm lecturing you as though you have any reason to obey.

thewarisover: (bitter:sweet)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-19 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
You're family to me here. I ought to listen to you and Dojima more often.

[And to the people from his world, he realizes. Sometimes he gets a bit too caught up in what he thinks ought to be done.]
trageteas: (heh)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-19 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[There it was again, being called family. He has more such people here than he does at home.]

Does Mr. Dojima tell you the same things that I do?
thewarisover: (heh (eyepatch))

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-20 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes. Most of the time, though, I think I end up being the one to scold him for overworking.

[Or overthinking.]
trageteas: (wave)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-22 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes the two of you seem so similar that I'm almost surprised that you get along. If I had a friend who was so like myself, I don't think I'd be able to stand him.
thewarisover: (that works.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-23 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes him laugh.]

Trust me, we had our fair share of arguments in the past. Our similarities might also be the main reason why we're not partnered up anymore.
trageteas: (fanart - chatting)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-24 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Partnership has as much to do with one's skill in battle as it does with personalities, but I believe it.

[He believes that they've had arguments, too, although he's not heard any for himself. That's how disagreements between adults ought to be.]

But as I don't know him very well, I can't say for sure.
thewarisover: (couldn't agree with you more.)

[personal profile] thewarisover 2012-02-24 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Is that my cue to get him to open up to you more?

[Roy DID have to do that rather often with Dojima. The man could be so standoffish at times...

He was mostly teasing, though.]
trageteas: (Default)

[personal profile] trageteas 2012-02-26 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
That's his choice, not yours.

[The suggestion, even in jest, hits home; if Dojima didn't care to interact with him, they ought to let him be.]
