[OPEN] Earthquake Event

Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

This in-game day will last a week irl.

Oh. [The Watch really does have some pretty young members, doesn't it? Some pretty young leaders, too. He wonders what they use in terms of criteria...

At this point he's gotten tired of sitting around and has set to helping someone else, doing his best to apply the same techniques. He's actually pretty good at the basics -- it's just the more modern aspects of it that trip him up.]

The Watch... may I ask how long it has been established in the city?

[Because it sure is organized for a citizens' thing...]

[Pauses to think for a bit.]

I think it's been around for five months now.

I see.

[There's a brief silence as he concentrates on a particularly tricky bit of bandaging, biting his lip as he leans in.]

... I was just wondering how long the war has been going on. No one so far seems able to tell me.
alastinglight: (jooi - pensive)

I think it might be because it started long before anybody could ever remember. From the literature I've read, it may have been started long before this city existed.

[Already helping out another person as they're talking, occasionally stopping to reassure his latest patient.]
briochetime: (I will turn this car around.)

[His hands stop dead at that.]

... Oh.

[That's actually more in line with what he was expecting of war, but it also kind of... surpasses his expectations. He was kind of hoping it would still be a preternaturally short sort of war.

He's not quite sure what to do with that, so, back to bandaging.]

May I ask how long you've been here, sir?
alastinglight: (jooi - the heaviest burden)

You can call me Shinsuke, by the way.

[And thinking on that a moment.]

It's been close to three months for me now.
briochetime: (I think that counts as a FML.)

Ah, my name is Allen.

[Quick and dirty introductions; there's simply too much on their hands at the moment for anything more than a nod to go with that. He's getting faster, though -- it was already work he was used to; just needed a closer look at the particulars.]

It seems as though many of the guests have been here for a period of a handful of months.

[It's sort of a not-question. He's still very much on the fence as to what he thinks of the Watch itself.]
alastinglight: (moesugi - mmmm...)

[personal profile] alastinglight 2012-02-09 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I think a few have been around for almost a year now.

[He... personally didn't relish the thought of staying TOO long, but he wasn't exactly excited by the prospect of going home either. Especially when he took his projected future into consideration.]

If there are people who have been around for so long, I can't say I've met them. [Of course, that doesn't say very much considering how long he himself has had to look around, but you'd think he would have found one at least.] Are they part of the Watch as well?
alastinglight: (moesugi - looking)

[personal profile] alastinglight 2012-02-14 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
[That makes him think for bit.]

I think some of them might be. I haven't really asked... although, I know our commander's one of the 'senior' guests.
briochetime: (I will turn this car around.)

[personal profile] briochetime 2012-02-14 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. That would make sense. [Seniority, or perhaps the guy even established the Watch, who knows. Considering his track record with the Watch, he'll run into him sooner or later.] Thank you for answering, Sir Shinsuke.

[And straightening:]

I believe that may be the last of those needing medical attention here.
alastinglight: (jooi - not sure if want...)

[personal profile] alastinglight 2012-02-15 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...

[Hum, a little awkward about the address.]

Just 'Shinsuke' should be fine.
