[OPEN] Earthquake Event
Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.
It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.
The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.
ooc: Like always, please feel free to start your own threads. Follow the subject line format:

...especially when a little boy runs across the street, crying for his mother, and falls right into a large crack.]
hopping in now!
[He's running the several meters to the site of the fall, and doesn't bother with saying anything (obviously the child is not fine in any meaningful sense of the word) before quickly climbing down after him. The boy is lying on the ground--a quick look-over doesn't show any blood or very serious injuries, so he doesn't mind the crying and instead lifts him up. Now--how to get back up.]
\o/
He takes the briefest of moments to be rather impressed that there are people here who can move that fast with armor on. Perhaps it's a Meister ability.
At any rate, a moment later he's flat on his belly in the street, since he's soaked anyway so whatever -- flinching only briefly at the weight on his front -- and reaching out to help the child back up.]
One moment please, sir. [It still can't be easy to climb around in that armor and tight space with all the water, hypothetical abilities aside. For the moment, he has to make sure the child gets to a bridge.]
/o/
He kneels by Allen's side, ignoring the cold water, and looks down. The little boy is conscious, at least, but it's hard to say anything else from up here.]
Is the child injured?
no subject
[The Warrior lifts the child up, holding him closer to the boy reaching down--in a way that probably makes it clear he has never held a child before.]

The child, of course, immediately does his best to scramble off again. Allen is forced to pick him up bodily and gets kicked, too, for his trouble. Through a prolonged wince--]
No, I do not think the harm is serious at all.

He has to resist the momentary impulse to sit on the kid, especially when he gets kicked again. No, he shouldn't remove the shoes, either -- even though they really hurt. Going from experience, they'd mysteriously disappear somewhere in all this water.]
I think... his parent should be somewhere nearby. He seems very determined to cross the road.
no subject
You are most likely correct. We should look around and see if--
[He's cut off when a middle-aged lady comes running at them on the verge of hysterics. She rounds on Allen, trying to wrench the child from him none too gently.]
...Ma'am, that is quite unnecessary.
orz latefail tag is late and fail.
ALL THE LATE
He relinquishes the boy easily enough; in fact, he has to have very fast reflexes in order to prevent being bodily dragged into the woman's bosom along with the boy (it's a lucky break; he gets the vaguely unsettled feeling that she would have hugged him too anyway, somewhere in the bizarre torrent of angry... gratitude....?).
Needless to say, he does his best to duck away as gracefully as possible -- he can't actually flee down the street as much as he wants to, but this is where having two random strangers taller than you around comes in handy.
... Though, all things considered they don't seem to have much more idea of how to deal with the lady than the lady herself has any idea what she's doing. Maybe he should do something now that she's actually taking breaths between phrases.]
Milady. The clinic should have changes of dry clothing and proper medical equipment that those here do not have. [Ah, he can actually get a word in edgewise.] Will you need directions?
[Maybe it's just the surreal fact of being called milady after a ridiculous day, but that actually quiets the matron for a moment.]
LET US BOARD THE LATE TRAIN TOGETHER
[The mother is a little bewildered at being addressed by such polite young men, and seems to calm down somewhat. Raidou glances at the others. There probably isn't a need for all three of them act as escorts -- but on second thought, the other two do look rather roughed up.]
Do either of you need treatment?
