[OPEN] Earthquake Event

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

*Feeling the earthquake and for a moment thinking it could have been Sin made his stomach turn. But it wasn't possible, not in the slightest. He didn't have time to think about things like that. He had to make sure his district wasn't sinking into the ground. And meet up with his partner.*

Fine. Just...just rattled. *There's no Sin here, dammit! They stopped it. It's NOT HERE.*

This place is a mess. I don't even know where to start.

I have been in contact with Mustang-dono. Our district is likely the best place for us to stay at the moment.

We'll have to organize anyone we find to help out anyone else who's trapped or injured. This is going to be a long long day.

Indeed. [A careful pause.] I admit, I am concerned about the possibility of an attack now.

That'd be about all we need.

*Now that he's convinced himself that Sin wouldn't lurch around the corner, Auron started thinking ahead.* I have a first aid kit but I bet we'll need more. While we're trying to find people, we should try to see if there's stores still open and undamaged that can provide us with the raw materials for our own kits. Then...then we could pass them out to anyone who's healthy enough to walk around.

That is a good plan. Another move we may wish to consider, though, is aiding in the efforts to funnel the crowds into stable buildings. That will keep them off the streets.

Fayth, we just don't have all these -buildings- in Spira so it's easier...*And then he stopped himself. Just calm down and think.* All right. Let's run through the district and see if anyone needs immediate help and which buildings are safe. Then we'll herd people over and everyone can start making kits.

[A long pause, while they're walking.]

Auron?

Yes? *And there's water starting to gather in the streets from Sin knew where. Good thing his boots were sturdy. Fine. Find people, get kits and stop the water. In no particular order.*

You seem rather shaken by this event. Would it be all right for me to ask why?

*He looks at the buildings on his side of the street, mentally noting which ones look stable and which will need clearing out.*

Usually when there's a disaster like this in Spira, it's for one reason. Sin.

*Auron's also making a mental list of which stores can have supplies turned into some kind of first aid kits.*

Sin is a giant...monster, for lack of a better word. *This wasn't the time to explain summons to his partner.* It appeared more than a thousand years ago and stopped a war. It goes anywhere it wants, destroying machina and anything that looks like it could start to turn into a large city, save for two places. It could do things like this easily. *he says, gesturing to the ruined and flooding street.*

...I see. Did you ever fight this creature yourself?

I have. There's nothing that can stop it except for one tiny thing.

It's a long story but it doesn't exist anymore. We destroyed it forever. But disasters make me think Sin is still there, even though I know it's not possible anymore.

That is understandable. A great conflict often leaves one with scars.

[Was he speaking from experience? Yep.]

I bet you've seen your share of fights alongside Masamune Date. *Having shared his fears about Sin out loud, Auron somehow feels a little better.*

Yes, we have. [A little soft.] Though my lord is young, he has seen and experienced countless things. I have had the honor of being by his side on many of these occasions.

How long have you worked with him? Sounds like a long time.

[forbearanced]

My family has served his for generations - I was meant to be a retainer of his father. Instead, the duty of guarding and raising him fell to me.

Guarding and raising? Hunh. So you've watched him grow into an adult.

*blink* We're actually even more alike than I thought.

Is that so?

I'll have to tell you about it sometime. So Date is your lord and master. Looks like you've had some rough times if he's already lost an eye.
