[OPEN] Earthquake Event
Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.
It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.
The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.
ooc: Like always, please feel free to start your own threads. Follow the subject line format:

*The young girl ran toward the kid and pulled him close, clutching the boy close as the rocks fell and... it hurt, but not as much as she expected and the rocks slid off her back. Her weapon form clear on her back for an instant before it vanished in white energy. Clare might not even have noticed what she did, as it still hurt.*
*Clare looked up.* Kid! What's happened? Was there an attack?

Clare! [and jumping down before the skateboard even landed to make his way over, crouching down next to her.] Are you all right? It's not an attack—just an earthquake, I believe. [then again, it wasn't impossible for an earthquake to be attack. but he's going to hope for a natural disaster over that.
he then looked back up at the building, frowning.]
If you're able, we should move. This building is old and unstable. It may collapse even further, especially if there's another aftershock.

*She made sure the child was okay then walked him out of the danger zone. ...Which was when she noticed how much wall landed on them.* Wait, that fell on me!?
*She didn't think that much wall fell on her, she thought it was some rocks, and that most would fall a lot further from the kid (and her). The child she saved didn't seem to be registering exactly how much wall nearly killed him, while Clare was trying to piece together what happened.*

The buildings are designed to withstand most earthquakes, but older buildings are more unstable and likely collapse. As for this one...[looks over at her. she really didn't seem to have suffered much if any damage.]
The reason why you didn't suffer any greater damage is most likely due to your Weapon abilities. Otherwise, you and the boy could have been crushed.

*She was honestly stunned, she figured in her transformed state her energy must be going to dissipating impact, she was a shield after all. But her run in with Selendis's fist suggested that wasn't shared by her more mundane human form. Yes, her back hurt, but it wasn't like a large building just fell on her.*
That's good to know. *And Clare will just play not freaked out at her own mortality right now. Limited results, Clare's not the best or believable when deceptive.* So how bad are things? Where can I go to help?
no subject
Manageable. However I have heard of flooding out in the commercial district. I believe the waterways may have been damaged.
[he then studied her again.] Are you sure you are able?
no subject
*She didn't like being studied, it felt weird, like being in a zoo on the wrong side of the cage.* I'll probably do better doing anything but thinking about that right now.
I can think about it tomorrow. *She has a tomorrow, after all.*

Going through the city and making sure everyone is away from such older looking buildings will be of great help, then.
