[OPEN] Earthquake Event

Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

The instant reply didn't surprise him in the slightest. Cloud was being stubborn, but the ex-General wasn't foolish enough to try and win this argument just yet. Sephiroth knew that it was best save for later, as he didn't want to rile his Meister up any more than he already was. That was why he kept his silence as he began to follow his Meister out of the supermarket.

Walking quietly, he didn't miss the attention Cloud was giving him even if it made him want to shake his head. He didn't though, and simply considered Cloud's suggestion before finally shaking his head at that. "I believe that it would make it worse. The muscles surrounding my back and ribs would irritate the injury."

Hmm, well if Sephiroth couldn't fly for risk of irritating the injury then his partner certainly wasn't doing anything else either. They needed to get ice on that bruising to keep the swelling down and then decide if Sephiroth was going to sit for the day or stand. He would have to commission Jenova to sit on the ex-General's lap if it was the sitting option.

"Then you aren't doing anything more today except what I tell you to do," he replied as he stepped out of the supermarket door and began to head down the street towards their apartment. He continued to keep a close eye on his partner regardless.

He thought twice over his observation, but then decided that his honesty was perhaps the best option. The last thing that he wanted was for his injuries to be prolonged any longer than necessary, since sitting too long would make him far too antsy.

"Does that including walking back to the apartment?" Sephiroth asked while glancing over at the blonde with the barest hint of a smirk. While he'd never allow Cloud to carry him, he was interested to see just what the blonde would say. No doubt the reaction would be amusing.

Cloud was fine with Sephiroth walking back to the apartment, as long as the ex-General didn't appear strained. He actually wasn't certain what he would do if the damage was worse than cracked ribs, but the bruising suggested it was at least a little serious.

He paused in walking to glance at the silver-haired man before smirking in return. "If you want me to carry you, I can, but I assumed your ego couldn't take it."

"My ego can take anything," Sephiroth huffed back in return. He simply had no desire for such antics, or so he told himself. Besides, it wasn't his ego that he cared about, but more his image to the others in this city. While he would show his weaknesses to Cloud, he would never display them to another.

Finally returning the smirk, Sephiroth glanced at the younger male as he muttered, "Considering your height, even if you did carry me, I'd still be walking either way."

Cloud eyed Sephiroth for a moment longer, sensing that the ex-General would allow it if they were in private. Hell, Sephiroth might request it if they were in private. "True, but that wonderful image of your grumpy self that you broadcast to the world at large can't take it." He would totally carry Sephiroth bridal-style after all.

He blinked at the return comment, and he had to replay it over in his head to think that Sephiroth really degraded his height. Finally, he chuckled and shook his head. "Well played, Sephiroth, well played. Oh, and you're on restricted activity even in the apartment." He smirked, aware that his partner would know what that meant.

His eyes did narrow just a little at the barb Cloud playfully gave before he smirked. He wouldn't have put it by his Meister to take far more than enjoyment out of the entire ordeal, but then he also knew that Cloud would be that foolish. Not when it came to his image in such a way, since Sephiroth knew that Cloud would never want his weaknesses announced so publicly either. "They are big words, Strife."

The blinking had his smirk deepening in amusement, and he had to turn his glance away before wincing as his injury was jarred uncomfortably. Cloud's comment, however, had his attention returning directly back at the man in question as his lower lip stuck out into a semblance of a pout. "I hardly think that such restrictions are necessary."

While he might have jested, he knew that unless it was very serious, he would never take away Sephiroth's pride by carrying the man. There were some things that not even he would risk, and he knew that the ex-General's grumpy public appearance was a huge defensive mechanism. "Oh, don't want the world to know you're a big softie?"

He didn't need to turn his head to know that Sephiroth was pouting at him, but if there were going to be low blows then he was going to have the final say. "Yes, but you don't restrict yourself anyway, so it's up to me to do it. Thus, reduced activity levels."

[personal profile] pure_lineage 2012-02-04 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a soft snort sounded in reply to Cloud's first question. He was hardly a 'big softie', and they were both more than well aware of that fact. Cloud could fool himself into believing anything he wished, that didn't mean that it would come true, and there was no way in Gaea that he would ever be labelled in such a way. Sephiroth much preferred it, and that's the way it would remain.

The pout remained on his lips, and as he spoke, there was a slight huff of annoyance there to colour his tone. "I believe we'll see what truly happens when we return."

[personal profile] de_faulty_hero 2012-02-04 02:53 pm (UTC)(link)
While Sephiroth might deny it, he had seen how much of a 'softie' his partner was with him and even to a small extension Kuroro. The hardest part was getting Sephiroth to trust but after that, it was a piece of cake. His partner had gone from a power-hungry jerk to a possession, protective worry-wart.

He stopped on the street in order to turn and look at the pout that was on Sephiroth's lips. It was obvious his decision wasn't one that pleased the silver-haired man. "Yes, when we get back for starters, we're icing that side and then tossing you in the tub to relax. Then it's on the couch resting with you."

Cloud's statement was returned with a disinterested huff. He truly thought that the blonde was making far too much of a big deal out of something so trivial. It wasn't as though the bones in his chest had broken, and they were hardly causing him any discomfort. As for the bruising, none of it could be seen so long as his jacket remained on.

"I hardly need rest," he grumbled, but he didn't protest any further than that as he began to follow his partner.
