[OPEN] Earthquake Event
Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.
It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.
The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

The snapped words were returned with silence. While he may have been injuring himself to keep Cloud safe, Sephiroth would do it ten times over if it meant that not harm would come to the younger male. Soon enough the shaking stopped, and with it the barrage of groceries. Glancing up, he ignored the fact that he was covered with groceries as he peered at Cloud with overly bright cat-like eyes. "You're not hurt, are you?"
no subject
He was thankful when the shaking stopped, though he was certain that they were both quite buried laying on the floor as they were. He shifted his arms slightly even as Sephiroth rose a bit to look at him, and he could feel piled cans on his arms. "No more than some bruises and scraps. You?"
no subject
There was a pain and tightness in his chest each time he breathed, which left him wondering if one of the cans had impacted against his rib and cracked it. That was a rather large possibility, but it was a suspicion he would keep to himself for now.
"One could say the same, but it isn't anything that I can't handle," Sephiroth murmured honestly. Bruises were nothing, after all. Knowing that Cloud was alright though, he shifted his legs in closer to his body before pushing himself up to straddle Cloud's thighs. The movement caused the cans and boxes to go clattering to the ground, but not before pain spiked on his right side. Wincing at the sensation, his hand instantly came to grab at the area as he hissed lightly in surprise.
no subject
He watched as Sephiroth sat up, alarmed by the hissing and grasping that occurred. He shifted to sit up himself, leaving Sephiroth on his thighs as he reached out to unbuckle the silver-haired man's jacket and pushed it gently to the side. There was already obvious bruising, and he looked up at his Weapon with a scolding look.
"I think you cracked or broke a rib," he accused, as if this was somehow all of Sephiroth's fault. "Let's get you home to tend to it," he murmured, though he knew there was nothing that he could do but force his partner to rest.
no subject
He sensed Cloud was on the move moments before his jacket was unbuckled and opened for the blonde to sight the area. Removing his hand, he found himself far from surprised at the bruising that had appeared and inwardly sighed in annoyance.
The accusation was returned with a light shrug, and he mentally brushed off the scolding look. In his mind, the injuries were well worth it given Cloud's current state of health. Shaking his head lightly, the ex-General began to push himself up to stand, the movement irritating his chest, as he muttered, "We're not leaving without Jenova's food."
He'd rather spend the day under Hojo's care than put up with that cat's constant complaining if they'd returned without it.
no subject
He rose quickly afterwards, stepping up to ease his partner's suffering by helping Sephiroth the rest of the way up. He hissed in aggravation as the silver-haired man's stubbornness with regards to Jenova, and he had to shake his head. "You spoil her way too much," he accused.
Still, he would abide by that one demand, mostly because making Jenova go without wasn't in his best interests either. He could completely blame it on Sephiroth right now though, and he looked at their buried cart and knew they would have to abandon it. There was no point with everyone fleeing the store as it was.
Instead, he reached down and picked up a few cans of fruit before gesturing for the ex-General to follow. "You realize that her favourite flavour will be buried at the bottom of the pile, and I'll have to dig through to get it," he said grumpily, heading to the aisle where the cat food was kept. It looked as disastrous as the previous one, but he had to get the food.
no subject
"Unless you wish to put up with her whining, I would strongly suggest obtaining it," he said in return. Sephiroth knew that Cloud would indulge him though, and as the blonde grudgingly began heading off, the ex-General followed behind. He was a little slower with his movements, but he didn't allow the pain of his injuries to get in the way.
He wasn't all that surprised when he sighted the state of the next aisle. Although Cloud's grumpy words had him smirking subtly in amusement. The sounds of the warning sirens and panicked people went ignored, and he shook his head and trailed after Cloud to try and find her favourite flavour. "Perhaps you'll be fortunate enough to find a can or two still on the shelf?"
no subject
He managed to make it to the set area, but the only things still on the shelves were flavours she would turn her nose up at. What a spoiled beast they owned, he thought as he pushed a bag of dog food out of the way. He then began to his search for the cans that Jenova would eat.
He picked out a few, noted some were dented and tossed them away. He wasn't feeding his cat dented in food, so he had to dig deeper to find cans that not only had a label still but were in good condition. "Why does she only eat chicken flavoured and white fish and tuna flavoured food? This is all your fault, letting her get away with selective eating habits," he grumbled as he tossed the good cans into part of a broken open bag to easier carrying.
Standing, he tucked his load of canned cat food under one arm, picked up a decent bag of dry kibble, and his measly four cans of canned fruit. He made his way back towards where Sephiroth was and heaved a sigh as if he were holding in his patience. "Let's go and get you home to soak in the tub."
no subject
"Then I suppose that it's fortunate that we're obtaining it then, hmm?" He murmured with a subtle smirk curving on his lips. There was no offer to join with the hunt, knowing that Cloud would snarl at him for trying, and so he remained on the sidelines watching with hidden amusement - amusement that only seemed to grow when Cloud tossed aside the damaged cans.
"I suppose one of us has to be picky, hmm?" Sephiroth muttered in response before Cloud picked everything he needed and came back over. He offered to take the bag of kibble from Cloud's grasp even as he said, "Thank you."
no subject
"You let her get away with it," he replied and shook his head, growling when Sephiroth offered to take the bag of cat food from him. He tucked it closer to his body and marched off to pay for the items, but more so to get a proper bag to carry it home in.
"The cat gets this much food and we get to starve," he complained, though he didn't mean it. Their own eating habits were much less than that of Jenova, so it wasn't like they would really starve. He could still complain about it as he set the cans in a bag and showed his communicator so Shibusen would be charged and began to head out.
no subject
"You can have my portion if you're that concerned," Sephiroth softly said in reply to Cloud's complaints. Following after the blonde, he ignored the twinges of pain from his ribs as they made their way to the self-serve registers. Cloud wouldn't allow for his suggestion to eve happen, but maybe he might attempt to share a meal with Cloud instead.
no subject
"No way, not with you injured like that. Now you have to eat in order to build your strength to heal back up," he said stubbornly. If anything, he was going to make Sephiroth eat more because of that injury. It was the only time he could justify it, though his partner wanted to explode from being over-fed every time he tried.
He settled the bags of items in one hand and slowly began to make his way out of the store, keeping an eye on his partner to make certain that Sephiroth wasn't in too much pain. "I wonder if flying would take the jarring motions from walking off your rib?"
no subject
Walking quietly, he didn't miss the attention Cloud was giving him even if it made him want to shake his head. He didn't though, and simply considered Cloud's suggestion before finally shaking his head at that. "I believe that it would make it worse. The muscles surrounding my back and ribs would irritate the injury."
no subject
"Then you aren't doing anything more today except what I tell you to do," he replied as he stepped out of the supermarket door and began to head down the street towards their apartment. He continued to keep a close eye on his partner regardless.
no subject
"Does that including walking back to the apartment?" Sephiroth asked while glancing over at the blonde with the barest hint of a smirk. While he'd never allow Cloud to carry him, he was interested to see just what the blonde would say. No doubt the reaction would be amusing.
no subject
He paused in walking to glance at the silver-haired man before smirking in return. "If you want me to carry you, I can, but I assumed your ego couldn't take it."
no subject
Finally returning the smirk, Sephiroth glanced at the younger male as he muttered, "Considering your height, even if you did carry me, I'd still be walking either way."
no subject
He blinked at the return comment, and he had to replay it over in his head to think that Sephiroth really degraded his height. Finally, he chuckled and shook his head. "Well played, Sephiroth, well played. Oh, and you're on restricted activity even in the apartment." He smirked, aware that his partner would know what that meant.
no subject
The blinking had his smirk deepening in amusement, and he had to turn his glance away before wincing as his injury was jarred uncomfortably. Cloud's comment, however, had his attention returning directly back at the man in question as his lower lip stuck out into a semblance of a pout. "I hardly think that such restrictions are necessary."
no subject
He didn't need to turn his head to know that Sephiroth was pouting at him, but if there were going to be low blows then he was going to have the final say. "Yes, but you don't restrict yourself anyway, so it's up to me to do it. Thus, reduced activity levels."
no subject
The pout remained on his lips, and as he spoke, there was a slight huff of annoyance there to colour his tone. "I believe we'll see what truly happens when we return."
no subject
He stopped on the street in order to turn and look at the pout that was on Sephiroth's lips. It was obvious his decision wasn't one that pleased the silver-haired man. "Yes, when we get back for starters, we're icing that side and then tossing you in the tub to relax. Then it's on the couch resting with you."
no subject
"I hardly need rest," he grumbled, but he didn't protest any further than that as he began to follow his partner.
