soul_logs | [OPEN] Earthquake Event

Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[He watches him for a moment, unsure if he's glad or not for the lack of lecture. He's still trying to figure Roy out here. But he just gives a nod and turns.]

I'm on it.

After that, check with our volunteers and see if the distribution of medical supplies is going well. I'll join you there.

[He glances at him for a moment before nodding.]

See you over there then.

[A light, absent-minded wave. Sometime later, once everything's done on his end, he's coming around to join Ed just like he said he would.]

...Everything good?

[He looks up at Roy when he appears, briefly raising his eyebrows before hoisting up some supplies to hand off.]

Smoother than I'd have thought. How's everything on your end?

As well as they can be, I suppose. Am pretty sure that more things are going to crop up between now and tomorrow, though.

[Looking Ed over yet again.]

That's not giving you too much trouble, I hope.

You'll have your work cut out for you.

[He glances at his arm and shakes his head a little. If he's still in pain, he's not showing it.]

Like I said, it's been worse before. Still, I'm sure Winry would find a way to blame it on me that it broke again.

To be fair to her, you CAN get pretty reckless.

Who's side are you on?? [A frustrated sigh.] It's not my fault it was always one thing after another.

But it might be your fault that you kept charging into all of it.

[Glares at him a bit.]

I only did what I had to do. [Not the truth at all.]

Like destroy the towns you end up in?

That's totally not my fault!! It always happens when people pick fights with me! [Huff]

They can't help it if they call you out on being short...

Don't start with that... they don't need any more injured people waiting in line. [GLARE GLARE]

Even then. I know you can manage just fine, Fullmetal, but an injury's an injury.

[Haha, wow, look at this sudden Serious.]

[He stares at him for a long moment before looking down, brow furrowed.]

You don't have to be so concerned about me, you know.

You're right. I don't have to be.

[But he wanted to be.]

[More frustrated.]

Then why are you?

What, I'm NOT allowed to care about you?

[He looks away uncomfortably, not sure how to respond. Half of him is glad to have the consideration, half of him just wants Roy to butt out.]

Just... don't do anything stupid on my behalf. I'll be really pissed off if you end up pulling some dumb shit over your concern.

[That makes him smile.]

I suppose the feeling's mutual, although mine mostly stays on the level of "don't do anything stupid".

Yeah, yeah... I always manage to pull through, don't I? [He gives him a little grin after a moment.]

Strangely enough. You've the luck of the Devil, kid.

[He chuckles a little.]

Heh, glad to know someone out there has my back.
