[OPEN] Earthquake Event

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pack of smokes.]

Cigarette?

[He pops one out, and grabs a lighter too.]

Always need a smoke.

[He's taking that stick with a grateful look, though. You know that kind of stress that you only feel after the fact?

[He'll give it a quick light.]

Good to know, really.

[Taking a drag once it catches, exhaling, visibly relaxing.]

...Much better.

Yeah, see, always needin' a way to relax. [He spins the lighter before putting it back in his pocket.]

Honestly, though, if it was a choice between sleep and cigarettes, I'd take sleep.

[He just didn't have that liberty most of the time.]

You and me both but until sleep? We're gonna smoke.

[He sighs, looking towards him.]

Sides that ground ain't safe. If ya slept on it, ya'd bonk yer head.

Good point. So did you ever get earthquakes like this in your world?

Nope, just rocket launches that felt like it.

Rocket launches? I've read about those.

Ever heard of them usin' energy of the earth and nearly killin' everyone?

...Yes, but something tells me that what I'm thinking of will differ rather greatly from your thing.

Unless yer thinkin' about mass depletion of resources, the world drying up and a crazy old man trying to stay alive, then yeah, it's gonna differ.
