EVENT: Battle Against the Kishin Adachi
Characters: Anyone who signed up for Mission 254
Location: Matsue City, Japan
Rating: PG13
Time: September 11th
Description: It's time to bring down the Kishin Adachi, once and for all!
Matsue was once a lovely city and a nice place for tourists to visit.
It is now a ghost town.
Some lucky citizens had managed to escape the city before things got really bad, but they are the minority. Even fewer still are those who stayed and are still alive.
Most of them are dead, or worse, they had been driven mad by the Madness the Kishin Adachi exuded and killed their fellow citizens and consumed their souls, becoming Kishin Eggs. To make matters worse, sometimes when you're fighting you'll hear the distant rattling of chains and some primal part of your soul knows, something wicked this way comes.
And then there's all the Yellow Fog...
Only those who persevere will make it to their final destination: the Adachi Art Museum where Adachi is.
It will not be an easy fight, but in order to prevent the fate of this city from befalling on another, everyone will need to try.
((OOC: Please indicate in the subject: Character || OPEN/CLOSED. There will be a separate thread for encountering Adachi. Event information is here.))

Psii and Ammy | closed
Knew what to expect, going in, but could not call self prepared. Was sure nervousness showed through resonance with Amaterasu. Maybe her ability to calm would help, when encounter with shadow self became inevitable.
Empty city was unsettling, calling (perhaps inevitably) to mind distant memory of what Alternia became. Psii tried not to think of own role in causing that desolation. But shadow would be sure to have much to say on topic.
Do not like this at all, he told Amaterasu.

She didn't, but she was confident. Her soul, though strong, was not properly working as expected in the fog, but she was pushing back enough to shield Psii. She didn't fear; she continued to fight. Still, she had to take care of Psii.
Tossing her head, she huffed and stopped, fur rising. She was smelling something; Kishin Eggs to be precise. Steadily, they were coming closer, but she was prepared.

When shadow appeared, looked much as before, biowires trailing from arms and torso, wrapping its head. Psii could all but feel them attached to self all over again, and the shadow bared its fangs in twisted parody of a grin.
"But they never really went away, did they? You miss them, Mituna. Don't pretend you don't. Was so much easier then. Can you really think coming here and being reunited with family, only to lose everyone all over again, hurts less?"
At least got to see them again, Psii retorted. Knew arguing was terrible idea, but couldn't let shadow just say those things unchallenged.
no subject
"Yes, at least you did." This wasn't her fight, but she would help him thought it.
"What is it that you miss, Psii?"
no subject
Being ship, he told her. Was... easier, in some ways.
Hadn't been forced to deal with weak, uncooperative hardware, or tearing uncertainty that choices made were right ones. Price was not making own choices at all, but. After hundreds of sweeps, being ship had been almost all he could remember.
"But you never got the courage to tell them the whole story," shadow said, as if Psii hadn't spoken at all. "You've never told anyone. You're so ashamed."
no subject
"... It's alright Psii. You can tell me..." She didn't use her wavelength to make him; it was his decision, but it might help him come to terms with it if they talked about it. The goddess wanted to help the poor troll.
no subject
The shadow troll sneered at this. "You'd call suicide the bravest choice? Your thinkpan's beyond glitchy. And you know it."
Am not ashamed of that, Psii retorted, which seemed to surprise shadow. Own life would have been small price to pay to stop her. Know what am. Know own limitations better than anyone. Is nothing you could tell... me that would shock or dismay.
If family had still been here to hear this, or, worse, if she had been, would have been different story. But Amaterasu would accept no matter what, and Psii was past agitation enough to send her gratitude for having helped.
Use of personal pronoun deflates shadow entirely, and it fades away, back into fog.

Her bright soul gave his a hug as the Shadow disappeared.
"There you go..." Things are done that everyone regrets, small or large. All they could do was move forward.
no subject
Thank you for help. Resonance felt especially warm, and Psii began to feel back to normal. Was potential problem, though.
Should be looking for your double?
no subject
"You're welcome..." She wouldn't be a good Meister allowing him to go through that alone. At the mention of her double, she shrugged. "I don't know. I never saw one in the tunnels actually... If it does appear, well, we'll handle it."
no subject
Maybe being goddess made shadow self not an issue. That would make sense to Psii. And Amaterasu was right. If double manifested for her, knew they could handle it. For now, he focused on getting energy ready for battle.

And what a horrible ruler. Trotting on, no other wolf made an appearance. Her ears turned and she listened, making occasional pauses to pick up more through the fog, but all sound seemed muffled and scent dampened. "... Do you sense anything, Psii?"
no subject
Believe kishin egg is approaching. Possibly more than one.
no subject
"Well, let's get it before it gets us."
sorry for slowness! still working stupid hours
Psii reached for energy, and found to relief that didn't seem badly affected by encounter with duplicate. Held it at the ready for when they would need it.
Is hard to imagine what drove humans who lived here to this.
It's all good
Her amber eyes glint and she saw the first egg coming from the fog. Her hackles were up; the goddess was ready to tear it and any of its allies down.
no subject
Once Amaterasu sighted egg, Psii released energy to her, keeping own attention fixed on it so he could give blast extra push if needed.

Will have to do that more often!
Knew fight was far from over, and readied another blast.
no subject
For one thing, she wanted to see how else to utilize his powers, but not right now. They were still in this fog mess with stronger than normal eggs. The next readied blast caught the next energy square in the end, sending it burning down into another red soul.
