Don't Cry for Me... [Closed | Mission]
Characters: Team Red Hot Sexy Ossans Genesis Rhapsodos and Miles Edgeworth
Location: Argentina!
Rating: G for generally sizzling
Time: April 19, all day.
Description: People are turning on against each other in Argentina. It's time for a great mediator/fighter pair to step in!
Unlike other missions that Genesis had gone on before, this one had no particular target mentioned. No defining "ghoul" to watch out for-- just a warning that people had begun to turn on each other, turning into Kishin Eggs themselves.
That element alone was sure to make the entire mission a challenging one. It was bound to test their control, as well as their mediating skills to prevent the proliferation of even more Kishin Eggs. Viewing the chaos before them, Genesis turned to his partner.
"Looks like your ability will be put to the test here. It appears more chaotic than the incident at the carnival."

"Looks like your ability will be put to the test here. It appears more chaotic than the incident at the carnival."

"Indeed." With more people around in the Madness, a simple dispute could instantly escalate into something bigger. Edgeworth nodded to Genesis. "My ability is more effective in a crowd, however; that is a small mercy."
no subject
Genesis frowned, looking over their location. There were no reports regarding a madness emitter, so it seemed more like a job for crowd control-- to ensure that no one was going to turn into a Kishin Egg in the meantime.
"I suggest we take to the air, survey the entire perimeter of this town for any clues. Or we could keep to the ground and see if we can find anything in town."
That was one thing Genesis had in handy: the ability of flight thanks to his one wing. At least that could help them get a lead or get ahead to whatever needed to be done.
"What would you prefer to do?"
no subject
The prosecutor swallowed, not at all relishing the idea of taking to the skies with Genesis, being held up by his one-winged Weapon because he had no powers of flight at all. His hands tensed.
"I...would rather remain on the ground and survey the residents," Edgeworth decided.
no subject
"Alright. We'll need to keep a low profile. There's no doubt that we'll draw attention, but it'll help if we don't instigate any unnecessary quarrels."
no subject
So he kept that thought to himself, and agreed that they indeed had to keep a low profile. "Of course; I believe we can manage." There was no reason for them to spark a conflict if they kept to themselves and tried to blend in with the crowd. However, Edgeworth was already standing out with how he constantly mopped his brow with his handkerchief, shaded his eyes from the Argentinian sunshine, and basically tried to withstand the warmth.
At least he wasn't attracting the sort of attention that would create a kishin egg.
Still, as they continued on, it became apparent that they were attracting an entirely different kind of attention. A young woman with thick dark curls in a crooked three-story house opened her windows wide and watched the two men walk past. Several waitresses in a small eatery flocked to the door to open it and see who had come to town. A lady with high cheekbones and chocolate-brown skin whispered to her confidante behind a lacy fan after catching sight of Genesis and Edgeworth. Aware of several pairs of female eyes on him and his partner, the prosecutor started to feel far more uncomfortable than he had been in the heat.
"Let's...ah, finish this mission as soon as possible," he blurted out suddenly. A nearby laundry girl giggled as she hung out some clothes to dry. What on earth was she giggling about? In any case, Edgeworth glanced away from her, his right hand already moving up to his left arm as he quickened his pace.
no subject
"Maybe it's the heat. Are you wearing layers?"
A few girls who caught on to the conversation began to whisper among themselves, trying to tail the pair as they walked through the town. Genesis catch a few of their murmurs: That redhead is so dashing... but that other guy! He's really handsome, too!
no subject
At this point, it really was no longer the heat. It was the unwanted attention they drew from the girls, the ladies, the women. From the corner of his eye, he watched a shy-looking young woman quickly duck into an alley after catching sight of him. Edgeworth wanted to just chide them and say that it was impolite to stare, but decided against it, and sighed as he continued to survey the town for any signs of discord, or any growing aggression.
What grew was the volume of the combined whispers and comments regarding Genesis and Edgeworth. This time, it became much easier to decipher what they were all saying instead of hearing bits and pieces in Spanish and English - and it only added to Edgeworth's uneasiness. While he was no stranger to attention in general, as a famous prosecutor back home and as one of the heads of the Agency in Death City, this type of attention was entirely different.
"You can't have them both!"
"That one is mine!"
"Don't hog them! We can share! I'll ask them if they can stay for the night..."
"They can stay in our inn!"
"No, ours!"

Unfortunately, where there were fawning girls, there were bound to be men who felt intimidated by the sudden appearance of these two foreigners. While most of the men opted to chide their wives and girlfriends, a few of the more aggressive ones began to surround Genesis and Edgeworth. One in particular looked to be a regular roughhouser, with tattoos over his muscled arms. While Genesis wasn't quite as massive, the sight of the man threatening him and his partner didn't make him budge at all. In fact, he was smirking lightly, feeling himself ready for a bit of roughhousing himself.
"¿Cómo dos maricones como tú atraer a las chicas?"
"Excuse me?"
"You! Fags! How you get all our women so easy!?"
Genesis stepped back just a little at the man's outburst. But it wasn't in fear. It was more in preparation to do a little showing off, quickly grabbing the man and flipping him over in a single-handed throw, pinning him down with that same hand.
"Simple. I'm stronger."
He eyed Edgeworth then, and gestured for him to get ready. This could be their lucky break to see for themselves how this madness takes shape.

Before Edgeworth could properly translate what the tattooed thug had said for Genesis, the man saved him the trouble - but Genesis just had to cause more of it. He could only gasp and watch as the Weapon swiftly flipped their first opponent over and pinned him down.
"Genesis!" Edgeworth burst out, scowling at him. "Was that necessary?!" Weren't they supposed to be stemming the conflicts, not causing them?
But before he could point that out, a second man stepped out of the throng and directed a right cross towards Edgeworth's face. The prosecutor yelped and instinctively raised his own right hand to block the blow, flinching at the force of the punch that he had just stopped. The part of his mind that wasn't obsessed with how that move smarted was almost...amazed at how quickly he had pulled that off.

After taking down about three other men without breaking a sweat, Genesis noticed that some of the group began to back away, afraid of the two.
"They're rowdy, but I don't believe they're our target, Edgeworth. What we probably want is someone manipulating these people to voluntarily commit crime and taint their souls."
At that moment, he noticed the first man he took down starting to stir. Genesis turned, ready to defend his Meister.
"Heh. Not bad for a girly man," said the ruffian, sitting down on the ground. "But I bet you can't impress Eva. Everyone's linin' up to try an' make her their woman."
The mention of a woman piques Genesis' interest. This could be their break. He looks at Edgeworth, silently questioning him if he was going to continue the interrogation.
no subject
Genesis could be right. The prosecutor had thought their target would be within this crowd of unruly thugs, but right now, none of them showed any signs of morphing into kishin, or anything out of the ordinary apart from the fact that they were indeed as unruly and rough as they came. But when the first man Genesis had flipped mentioned a woman who seemed to have several men vying for her attention...
He caught the Weapon's eyes, set his jaw in a determined expression, and stepped in front of the man who had spoken. Edgeworth loomed over him, crossing his arms and glaring fiercely at anyone in the crowd who dared set a foot out of line. "Who is Eva?" the Meister asked sharply, pouring power into every word. "Tell me about her." He glanced up and caught the eyes of the other men who had surrounded him and Genesis. "The rest of you, stay where you are!" Edgeworth's ability was already at work, making sure everyone else stayed put until he had to interrogate someone else.
no subject
"Eva's this lady who came in not too long ago. Real gorgeous. Settled into this mansion that used to belong to some rich miser. They say the place is haunted. But it doesn't stop men from coming to see her.
When she comes into town, bad shit happens."
no subject
"What happens, exactly? And where is this mansion?" Every word was amplified by Edgeworth's ability, still at work. They had to know their enemy, and this was the best chance they had.
no subject
"She lives over there!"
He turns his head towards the edge of town where a large mansion was visible from atop a hill, surrounded by other residences that seemed opulent but abandoned.
"Looks like we have our target, partner."
no subject
He only eased up on the glare when he looked at Genesis, and nodded in agreement.
"There is no point in fighting everyone here if we can eliminate the source. In the end, these men are only victims. Come on." Edgeworth strode onward, following the direction of the mansion. He didn't glance over his shoulder, knowing that his Weapon would be close behind.

"The queen has sent her loyal subjects to greet us," he observed cautiously, his gray eyes alert. "Our audience, however, is with her."
no subject
And true enough, these men more or less kept away from the pair, seeming to think that these two wanted to try their hand at winning Eva's favor.

As the mansion loomed before them, it did look like it had once been a grand structure, but much of the grandeur had long since eroded away, leaving an empty shell that was now serving as the home of a formidable kishin. Edgeworth had to wonder if there were any more of Eva's loyal men inside, and if he and Genesis would really have to, as the Weapon had described it, "barrel through them".
no subject
Once they were at the mansion's threshold, Genesis held an arm before his Meister.
"Let me do this."
At least if an attack was to spring on them upon knocking, Genesis would be the most likely one to handle it effectively. Despite being aware of the danger, he doesn't hesitate as he banged the knocker of the grand door upon the wood three times.
There was a pause of silence that followed. And then, the door opened with no fanfare at all.
"Makes me wonder if this Eva had known of us."
no subject
He certainly wasn't expecting the door to just swing open and do nothing more. For a full second or two, the prosecutor remained rooted to the spot, staring at the threshold. When Genesis spoke up again, Edgeworth managed to move from where he was.
"She was most likely expecting agents of Shibusen, yes." But before he entered, he extended a hand toward Genesis.
Now that they were truly entering the belly of the beast, they had to be ready.

Without argument, Genesis took on his weapon form and moved right into Edgeworth's hand. He didn't flare up yet as there was no immediate danger, but he was certain that he would need to do so at a moment's notice now that they were close to their target.
Once they stepped into the house, the doors would instantly close, giving them only one option: to go forth and seek the kishin egg.
no subject
When the doors closed behind them with a click that echoed in the stillness, the prosecutor paused, then sighed in exasperation. Was their hostess so eager to meet them that she would ramp up the haunted house factor like this? This was so clichéd.
"Really." Edgeworth strode onward without even glancing back at the closed doors behind them, Rapier at the ready.
no subject
"That was kind of expected, wasn't it?"
The old house was completely silent, except for a faint singing coming from the study at one of the rooms on the second floor. It seems that there was a piano playing there, too. Genesis was curious-- if this lady was a Kishin Egg, she must be something else to be able to continue charming men. After all, most of the Kishin he had encountered were all monsters-- deformed in some way or another. He had yet to encounter one who was more human in appearance.
no subject
"It seems our hostess has other hobbies besides mesmerizing the townsfolk," he mused, more to himself than to Genesis. Of course, the music could be more than just a hobby.
This house was haunted enough with the presence of a kishin. It didn't need any more silly gimmicks. When they reached the top of the staircase with no issue, Edgeworth gazed out at the front doors from which they had come in case any of their hostess' cohorts decided to chase them down after all.
no subject
"A very cultured opponent. It would be a shame to destroy her. But I suppose it can't be helped," Genesis laughed. "Come on now. I have a feeling her minions don't think of us as a total threat. And even if they come in, better to go finish off the boss first before the little fish."
no subject
Without further ado, he pushed open the door with one hand, and then opened it all the way. He really didn't care how much noise the door made. After all, he already knew they weren't going to take her by surprise; the advance guard showed that either she knew, or suspected that she would soon be followed by agents of Shibusen. There was no point.
Edgeworth pointed the Rapier as he would his pointer finger in court, right at the only occupant of the room. Already the adrenaline was pumping through his system at the anticipation of another battle. Just another day dispatching monsters in this world in the hopes of getting stronger.
"You have the right to remain silent," he declared.

In the place of a human face was something akin to a white mask, and as she rose, more of her inhuman features came to light: the dress seemed to be melded into her skin, and her limbs seemed to have an unnatural length and slimness-- almost as if she was some kind of living mannequin. At first, it didn't seem as if she would be that much of a threat, but when one of her unnaturally long arms suddenly extended and shot out at the pair like a spear, it became clear what she was capable of.

Gritting his teeth at the sensation of impact and keeping himself from reacting too much, he scrambled to get up again, facing their opponent - the elusive woman who had charmed so many men to fight for her. With both hands now on the hilt of the broadsword, Edgeworth ran forward, Weapon poised to cleave Eva diagonally.
no subject
But Edgeworth's not so graceful evade aside, Genesis let their resonance flare up as they moved to slide her diagonally. Unfortunately, though, this Kishin Egg seemed to be more slippery than expected. She darted away from their attack then tried to counter with a swipe of one of her long limbs.
no subject
So he broke away from her, leaped back and circled, looking for another opening.
Perhaps if he chopped her limbs off first...

Edgeworth didn't hesitate. As the kishin egg cried out, he charged forward, concentrating on delivering the killing blow. She attempted to dodge and screeched as the prosecutor closed in on her, but to no avail. The kishin kicked out at him, but missed. The last thing she would ever see was the shining red blade, and the last thing she would hear was Edgeworth shouting as he slashed her from her left shoulder all the way to her right side.
"Take that!"
no subject
Genesis transformed out of his weapon form then, and moved towards the egg. As he usually did, he took it by its tail of sorts, and ate it. He tended to make sure no one really watched the actual eating. He thought of it as a really nasty thing to do. But someone has to do it.
"That was a good finish, Edgeworth."
no subject
"As long as we finish her off before she finishes us off, I would call it a victory." Any finish, in the end, was a finish and was what they wanted.
no subject
Genesis then began walking towards the manor's exit, letting Edgeworth follow at his own pace as they made their way back to the mirror through which they came through.
