Bakura himself, having watched poor Kid's unwilling in and out of the water, couldn't resist being a pain in a slightly different way. Coming back from having a quick bite to eat, he had mostly dried off, or at least his t-shirt had, his hair still soaked and an utter mess as it clung to the back of his neck. He did his best to carefully sneak up fairly close to Kid before speaking, hoping to at least startle him.

"Having fun?"

While normally Kid would have picked up on an incoming soul, he was too distracted trying to dry his hair with a towel. Four and a half times...four and a half—

So when Bakura did come up behind him, he was startled. In fact by now it was almost instinctive for him to flinch and try to step away from anyone, which is exactly what he did. However, because he was also a veteran fighter...

"You're not getting me this time!" he yelled as he whirled around and grabbed Bakura.

...He may or may not have unintentionally swung the boy toward the edge of the pool.

Bakura yelped, eyes wide as he began to fall, reaching out on reflex to grab hold of the nearest thing to keep himself upright...

...which happened to be Kid.

How good is your luck, Kid? Because Bakura's is pretty bad. Which is why he really should have expected this...

His luck has been pretty bad.

So despite his attempt to not be pushed into the pool...

He was going to be pulled in instead. With Bakura.

What is life.

The instant that Bakura realized, he let go, but the damage was already done.

He hit the water with a splash, going under for just a moment before recovering and popping up over the surface.

"Aaa-- sorry, sorry! Are you all right?"

[perfectorder]

Once he resurfaced he shook his head before looking at Bakura.

"I'm fine," he said with a long sigh as he traded water. "Though my plan backfiring is a bit depressing."

Or "a lot" depressing.

"Though I think I should be the one owing you the apology. I didn't realize it was you."

[shiromadoushi]

"Thought it was someone else come to throw you in?" Bakura asked with a smile. "You don't have to apologize, it's what I get for trying to startle you," he assured.

[perfectorder]

"Unfortunately...though I may have also overreacted a bit."

Or a lot, if one were to consider normal standards.

[shiromadoushi]

"It's all right," Bakura assured. "Since it was just into the pool, no harm done, ne? Though really, you should try and relax, it is just a pool party, right? Even if people are playing pranks."

[perfectorder]

Kid just sighed.

"I know, but after having it happen so many times within the span of the hour, one can't help if the whole city is conspiring against me."

[shiromadoushi]

"Eh? How many times?" Bakura asked, curious. He knew it had happened at least twice, he'd seen those. That's why he had been going for the scare instead.

[perfectorder]

"Four and a half," he sighed.

"Five and a half if I include this recent one."

[shiromadoushi]

"Eh?! That many...!?" Bakura paused a moment, scratching at his cheek slightly as he floated. "If I would have realized, I wouldn't have tried to tease... sorry!"

[perfectorder]

Kid just gave a small shake of his head.

"No need to apologize. After all, you had no intention of actually pushing me into the pool. And as I'm loathe to admit it, it is a risk of being in a place like this, though I hardly would have imagined for it to happen this many times."

[shiromadoushi]

"I guess everyone just really thinks you need to break, ne?" Bakura smiled. "Since you look so serious all the time."

[perfectorder]

"I look so serious all the time?"

Then again this should not be that surprising.

[shiromadoushi]

Bakura rubbed the back of his neck shifting around in the water a bit. "You really do... Not that anyone can blame you for it, really, but... it's pretty rare to even see you smiling."

[perfectorder]

"...Hm."

He thought about it, tilting his head a little as he did.

"...I suppose that is true," he finally said. "Though I don't personally see a problem with it."

So he he always had that reserved, cool, serious look—wasn't that only proper as a shinigami? He always did find his father's more humorous antics unfitting.

"Despite how I may seem, I'm not necessarily 'tense' and I relax on my own time at home."

[shiromadoushi]

"When you're 'off duty'?" Bakura smiled with a nod. "As long as you have that."

[perfectorder]

"I don't always stay in the Death Room, you know," he sighed. Though he would not say that he had been spending less and less time at home.

[shiromadoushi]

"Un... but even when you're out and about you're still being official a lot of the times, aren't you? Like even when my father's not at the museum, he's still acting as the museum head, even sometimes when he's home." Not that he often was...

[perfectorder]

"Your father was head of a museum?"

This may or may not have been an intentional deflection to get the topic off of himself.

[shiromadoushi]

"Un! Still is, I hope!" Bakura laughed. "Domino Museum, it's a history one."

[perfectorder]

"I'm assuming this museum is neither about the pizza company or the game tiles," he said in a small attempt for a light joke and bit of wit.

[shiromadoushi]

"Domino's where it is," Bakura explained with a laugh. "Though with how everyone is about games there, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a connection between the two," he smiled.
