[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

[Natsu] [Streets/Morning] [Open]
But anyone who really knew the guy would know exactly what was up.
A few sickened noises emitted from his throat and he looked extremely pale (a bit green, even) -- the life drained right out of him. "Urk...urgh...gonna die."
Motion sickness would take him down. Every. Single. Time.
no subject
Wiping some sweat from her brow, she hastily goes along her way, not aspiring to stay in one place too long. That is, until one of the creatures comes up to block her rather narrow pathway. Lucy quickly takes stance, but before she can manage to do any damage, she sees a person up against its back. …. Only one person could get themselves caught up in this situation.
“Natsu! Wha—WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!"
no subject
But then the spider was moving forward again to chase after the easy blond target, and Natsu was overcome with nausea.
no subject
Well, she didn’t have her Spirits, but she did have a rope. So there was that. But, before she even could start unraveling it, the insect turns its vested attention towards her, its many feet skittering against the concrete and beginning to move. Being caught off guard by its suddenness, her first reaction is to start running.
“Natsu! Can’t you make him stop!?” Lucy speaks between heavy and erratic breaths.”This… is not… even…!” While she runs she looks back occasionally, trying to gauge her guildmate’s discomfort level. Seeing as how it was nothing short of expected, she yells a suggestion, “If you can distract him a bit, I can throw you a line!”
no subject
It's a good thing Natsu's too busy practically hanging off the side of the over-sized insect, ready to puke at any given moment. "I can't -- urk -- move." He struggles against the web, lurking like a caterpillar and the sudden motion only makes him even more sick.
"Stop looking so -- eghhh -- appetizing, Lucy, and this thing -- bleeegh -- won't go after ya!"
no subject
Well, seeing as how Natsu was out of commission, she’d have to leave it up to her own intuition. Seeing a skinnier alleyway, she decided to go with that. Running between the thin and condensed walls, she makes her way through it smoothly, unrolling the rope in a clumsy and rushed fashion. She tries to control the situation through controlling the terrain. With it unrolled, she makes a quick loop and knots it. She curses a little, unsure of how this will proceed, but seeing as she had no other choice; she throws it towards Natsu’s hand.
Lucy only hoped they had the collective strength to pull this off. “You better not let go!”
no subject
But somehow or another, it did wind up in his grasp -- fingers closing around it. The spider (much wider than Lucy) wasn't able to fit in the alleyway frontwards, so it crawled on its side and onto the building, causing Natsu to pretty much hang upside down on its back. This made his motion sickness worse immediately and sick he got -- right on the spider's face, blinding its many eyes. Totally gross, but effective!
The oversized insect let out a screech and slipped off the wall, legs flailing about. "Oof!" Natsu crashed to the ground with a grunt. The sweet, glorious NOT MOVING ground. But he was still stick to the spider by the web, so he snapped his attention to his guild mate. "Lucy! Pull!"
no subject
Seeing his hands close around it in her peripheral vision, she lets out a soft sigh in relief. Except, then she’s greeted by the disgusting sight of the insect’s eyes... or what's left of it. She makes a face at the sight of the gunk that seems to leak out of it as Natsu makes his move (whether intentional or not). Knowing, she couldn’t stand there relieved for too long, she nods towards him. “I’ve been waiting for this.” Which actually says a lot more than how little words there are, but regardless, she's quick to focus on her task, a quick "you got it" going along with the end of her confession.
Pulling with all her strength, she releases a low grunt, though there's a surprising smile on her face as she does all of the pulling and heaving. “Once this is all over, I .... guess I can treat you to something to eat! But just this once.”
no subject
"Goddamnit!! This stuff's too sticky! Lucy! Call that crab guy," he said this as though something had changed in the past five minutes and Lucy somehow had her magic back.
no subject
There’s a huge grin on her face as she makes a bit of a victory sign, her arm pumped upwards. “If only you relied on me sooner,” she teases, as if he had much of an option from the start. She outstretches her hand momentarily before retracting it… yeah, she needed something else. Fumbling around in her side pouch, she pulls out a small blade. Looking back downwards, Lucy shoots him a weird look before wearing the “do I have to explain this again” look that she wears so well.
“Why don’t you use your powers?” She says this simply, hoping he gets the point before squatting down. “How do I do this?” She didn’t want to get herself stuck. ... stuck to Natsu.... nope, she's not even going to picture that disaster...
no subject
"Just cut it. It's kinda sticky on skin, but it should be fine if ya don't touch it. Y'got careful hands, right? Just like the crab guy?"
no subject
“Well, I don’t have mine either!” Though, she can’t count the amount of times she wished she did. … they were her friends, after all.
But, seeing as how that line of thought failed with Natsu, she releases an exaggerated sigh as her eyes scan the ground for materials. …Well, there was scattered newspaper. Picking them up, she rolled them up and folded them before placing them on both sides of the area she wished to start the incisions. At least this way, she wouldn't accidentally get herself stuck. “Of course I’m careful--
But there’s no way that I’d match up to Cancer. … Which reminds me. I need a hair cut.” A girl had to keep up with appearances and all. Lucy cuts and cuts whether it seemed futile or not. “Why is this stuff so sticky, anyway!?”
no subject
Either way, he watched her -- waiting for her progress. And then out of the corner of his eye, he saw it. The spider must have regained its vision and was starting to right itself. "Uh. Lucy? Ya might wanna hurry."
no subject
"N-natsu! Get up!" ... maybe that was easier said than done. Lucy attempts to rush her increasingly clumsy fingers as the pressure was eating into her. Before she knows it the scissors are stuck and she's beginning to realize the urgency of the current state of affairs. "Run!" She grabs him, pulling him upwards.
"Can you get out?! Now?"
no subject
His stomach flipflops at the memory of the spider ride but he forces himself to focus, sliding to a stop and whirling around toward the alley -- ready to dive in and take this thing head-on.
no subject
"You can do it, Natsu!" Lucy cheers on, a smile touching upon her lips as she lifts her arm up, her Fairy Tail emblem upwards. Besides, if he got stuck again, he needed someone to cut him back out. (Not that she wanted this. Her hands were cramped up enough from the first attempt.) ... but, she supposed that's what being guild mates was all about. New environment or not. Large spiders on the loose or not.
no subject
He rushes forward with a growl, meeting the spider head-on and aiming his arm right into the creature's face. The fire transfers over and burns it, taking the temporary blinding to a permanent one. Taking advantage of this, Natsu kicks it backward before driving his fist as powerfully as he can into its midsection. The spider curls into itself, hitting the ground defeated. And Natsu only narrowly gets out of the way when a raven swoops down and starts to eat the fallen spider.
He makes a face but then instantly backs up and dashes over to Lucy, extending his hand to give her a high five on he way, "Couldn't have done it without'cha, Lucy. We gotta find Erza."
