Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!

The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.

Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.

Their masterful plan has begun!

[it was disgusting. filthy. the corpses of the zombies, spiders, ants, ravens—everything was an unsightly mar on the once beautiful city. his father's city. his city. with the Madness already inflicted upon them, there was no point in keeping up the barrier. with it now gone, he could move about more freely and use everything he had.

whether fueled by the lingering Madness or his own desires to protect and rid the city of the unwanted invaders, Kid was shooting at everything and anything hostile that came across his path. nimbly he jumped and dodged, the hail of soul bullets never ceasing until the target was eliminated.

but although he was providing assistance to anyone who needed it, he was on a more specific hunt.

with their Soul Protect deactivated, it was only a matter of time before he would find a witch.]

[Her fur was slightly singed as she dodged the acid, charging directly at the ant which ready its pincers. When she was close enough, it snapped. The white wolf ducked and grabbed the two closed incisors hard, crushing them in her own fangs instead.]

[The ant was teetered away, now short of its mighty jaws and furious. It turned, acid ready to fire, but was immediately pierced by the sword Amaterasu had picked up. It was frozen, stunned by the sudden attack. The sword was pulled through the top of its head and out, several more swings chopping it to pieces.]

[The wolf goddess snorted and shook out her fur.]

[don't relax just yet! a spider was descending down from its high perch, but a few soul bullets straight to the head will make quick work of that.]

[Amaterasu blinks and looks as the spider falls dead. Ah, good job Kid. She barks up at him.]

[there's a bit of a tired grin.]

You seem to be able to handle yourself well, Amaterasu.

[Another woof, but then she yawns, licking her jaws. She's a little tired.]

[now standing near her, he half wonders if he should give her a pet on the head as a sort of encouragement or reward.]

You should rest and save your strength. It wouldn't do if you're caught unaware or fatigued from all this fighting.

[though it does make him concerned about the others who are caught in this seemingly endless battle.]

[She nods. Yes, probably, but... the wolf goddess rolls her shoulders and stretches, arching her back. No way is she going to leave all the work to you young pups when she can still do something.]

[the determination is admirable but he's still concerned.]

How long have you been fighting?

[Ah... hmm... since this morning. She was woken up by the alarm]

[hm, well he could assume she was up for a while like everyone else.]

Have you encountered any witches since?

[Witches? She growls a bit, soon snorting and shaking her head. No, but she crinkles her nose. It's not that hard to smell them.]

[hm. well that was a relief but they have been rather elusive. it seems no matter how close he thinks he gets, they just move again.]

Keep it that way and try not to engage in combat with them. You're strong, but they are far stronger. Just leave it to us and we'll take care of it.

[She whines, really wishing she had her powers to defeat them, but nods. She'll stay back... but one day, she's going to get one.]

... [he's hesitant since he's still not sure if this was proper, but he gives her a reassuring pat on the hand. right in the center.]

Your desire to help and protect everyone is more than enough. But in the meantime your skills will be invaluable against the rest.

[She smiles and closes her eyes at the pat. Amaterasu looks up at him and nods, woofing lightly. He needs to be careful too. She wouldn't like to hear he's been hurt in a confrontation.]

I'll be fine. You take care of yourself.

[She nods and huffs. You'll see!]

[The wolf goddess picks a direction and quickly takes off. There was another spider and she's going to cut it off.]

[And the spider was successfully killed and the wolfy took off! However, before Kid could go any further, a giant pulsing wave of energy could be felt by anyone who was close enough. It was strong, and it was dangerous.

In the middle of an empty street stood a young lady who wasn't moving an inch. Yellow eyes seemed to stare into nothingness, and if it wasn't for the slight movement in her chest, no one would believe she was actually alive. However, the danger was obvious just by her appearance.

Her fingers curled in all sorts of mismatch directions, and she had terribly crooked legs. The dress she wore looked wet and wrinkled which matched her dripping hair and the hat that was on top of her head. That crooked hat had sewed-on antennae and was dripping from the top just like the rest of her.

Oh yes, the young shinigami had found himself stuck in front of a witch.]

[ A giant shuriken came sailing toward the offending witch.

Kid may have found himself standing in front of the witch, but standing behind the which was none other than the world's greatest. Even if Tsubaki didn't connect, she returned to Black☆Star's grasp. A confident smirk lingered on the blue-haired idiot's face. ]

Looks like I timed my big entrance just right.

[just when Kid was about to be all shinigami and start some speech about how horrid and abnormal and ugly the witch before him was, too.

but he'll just be a little surprised by the sudden attack before straightening.]

I thought you weren't going to make it.
