[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

[Emil Castagnier][In the streets][Open]
Emil's out in the streets picking a fight with any zombie or oversized bug he can find, slashing and stabbing with a particular viciousness and occasionally a grin when he's got a good hit - like he's enjoying this maybe a little too much. They want a fight? Well, they can have one.]

Her broomstick dropped her down closer to street level, and she pushed one of the black tassels back up to the rim of her witch hat. She gestured with a finger and another three large dog-sized spiders slipped from under the hanging train of her black dress.]
I hope you scream as cute as you fight, little mortal insect.
[OOC: Feel free to retreat or fight :)]
no subject
Who knows? You won't get to find out.
[And with that he charged at the new spiders, attacking them with short but savage strikes of his blade.]

[She remained seated on her broomstick as her precious spiders settled on the ground before rising in an aggressive stance, baring their large fangs. They charged right in towards the mortal.
Arana giggled even as she twisted her fingers in the air and shadows began to creep into the area and some suddenly twisted out in an attempt to catch and hold the little blonde's knees and ankles.]
no subject
Let me go, damn it!
[Okay, so he knew shouting wasn't going to help. Those things had left his arms free, so he lashed out at the spiders in front of him, hoping to buy himself even just a second of recoil, and immediately swiped at the shadows holding him down instead.]
no subject
His attempts to get free were also terribly amusing for the moment. The spiders batted at the knife with their hair legs, trying to knock it away from them but also away to unarm their prey.]
I wonder if I could let all these spiders kill you or just wrap you up and take you back with me? Do you like dungeons, human?
no subject
That's not going to happen.
no subject
It's not? And what are you going to do to stop it, insect?
no subject
[Despite his words it was already enough for Emil to try and fend off the spiders and the shadows, the task made much more difficult when he was being held in place. At this point it might have been hard to tell whether he was angrier at the witch or for himself for being weak enough to end up in this situation in the first place, though he wouldn't have admitted it to even himself; he knew the witches were supposed to be strong, but that didn't excuse the fact that he wasn't good enough.]
no subject
[She enjoyed this little battle of words because she knew she would win. Humans were weaklings, even the guests that Shibusen had called in all that time ago. She hoped that he would feel his weakness, as she tugged with her fingers in the air and her shadows responded in kind, pulling him up off the ground.]
Little bitty insect caught in a web. How do you think you'll escape from being consumed? Shall I...
[She trailed off before looking away to regard another direction, eyes narrowing. Her spiders kept vigil on the prey even in her distraction.]
Really sorry for the delays!
That the witch seems distracted irks him, because the idea that he's not enough of a threat to warrant her attention and the fact that he's relieved for the break points back to his own weakness. He has to get out of here as soon as he can, and he doubles his struggle to find a way out of the shadows' grip.]
Hey! Are you talking to me or not?
