[Event] Invasion!
Characters: OPEN to everyone!
Location: All over Death City
Rating: Various
Time: February 2nd
Description: Witches have invaded and are attacking the city!
The attack, when it comes, happens quickly enough that Death City would have been caught flat-footed had there been no prior warning, but it's not completely unexpected because of the city's heightened state of alarm the past day. Warning sirens start sounding to alert the citizens and guests the moment a dark, slow-moving mass out in the desert to the south-east of Death City is spotted by Shibusen sentries. There's even time for civilians to run and hide before the mass is identified as an army of what looks like decaying, shambling corpses. The city's defenders are slow to move, however; most of them are distracted and are having trouble dealing with the black blood in their bodies. While agents are gathering to head out to deal with the zombie threat, that's when the witches make their move.
Portals begin opening in the skies above the city, disgorging hideous familiars: bulbous spiders and leggy ants the size of dogs. They drop hundreds of feet down into the streets and alleyways of Death City, and scuttle off in search of victims. The spiders are poisonous and can spin copious amounts of web to capture their targets, the ants spit acid that cause agonizing, paralyzing pain. Their masters bear down on the city in a cloud of black shadows--massive ravens strong enough to carry off adult men. There are five witches, women on broomsticks, beautiful if not for their crazed grins and obvious glee at the chaos descending upon the city. At some unknown signal--maybe the cackling from a couple of them--they dive in concert and disappear into different areas of the city.
Their masterful plan has begun!

[Raidou] [Streets/Before finding Edgeworth] [Open]
The zombies he can manage just fine. He's fought the undead before this. It's the spiders and ants that are proving troublesome.]
no subject
Leaping up to position himself above two of the five attacking ants, he narrowly avoided the spray of their acid as his bladed arm snapped down to slice off the anteanna from each of his opponents.]
no subject
He managed to kick the first one in the leg to make it fall over and stomped hard on its head, but the second one was already getting too close behind him.]
no subject
Catching sight of what was happening off to the side of him, his cat-like gaze observed the situation before he was darting in to take out the opponent. He didn't care about the health of the other guest, there weren't many within this city that he felt anything beyond apathy for, but that didn't stop the ex-General from swiping out to decapitate, with swift efficiency, the zombie coming up from behind.]
no subject
[He let his sword drop and caught it in his left hand, doing what he could to cut the web. The spider scurried down the wall towards them, followed by several of its brethren.]
no subject
Grunting lightly, he ignored the twinge of pain from his wound as he turned around and leapt up to attack the spider on the wall. Swiping out with his partial form, the oversized arachnid narrowly dodged his attack - even if the swipe of his blade severed the last segment of the two middle legs on the right.
Cat-like eyes regarded his foe even as the spider screeched and aimed to shoot its web towards Sephiroth.]
no subject
He couldn't jump quite as high as the other man, but fortunately, one of the spiders had come closer. Dodging around another shot of web, Raidou leapt while the arachnid still had its guard down and swung his sword across its face. The monster lost its footing and fell from the wall, allowing Raidou to drive his sword through its gut.]
no subject
Sighting the web coming right for him, his lips momentarily quirked up into a satisfied smirk as he suddenly raised his blade to catch the sticky substance. Spinning his body around to plant his feet on the wall, he kicked off and pulled the spider along with him so as to bring it down to the ground for the kill.]
[Finding Edgeworth]
The raven dived, sinking its claws into his shoulder. He let out a yell as they ripped through his suit and cut through his skin, and struggled as the bird began to lift him off the ground.]
Let go of me this instant!
[But it completely ignored his protests, whether he used his Meister ability or not.]
no subject
[It was fortunate that Raidou, too, was on his way to the Agency and found his boss being lifted into the air by a raven. The detective charged in and before the raven could get high enough to avoid him, he jumped and swung his sword across the bird's side, tearing through its wing.]
no subject
[He twisted around; that was Raidou's voice. And he watched as the detective suddenly leap into the air and attack, more than a little worried for him.]
no subject
The detective wasn't about to let it go that easily, however. Keeping an eye on the bird, he swiftly found a ladder going up to the top of a building and continued the chase across the rooftops. The bird, thinking it had lost the assailant, had slowed down.
It certainly hadn't expected to be attacked in the air, yet soon it found Raidou jumping on its back and a sword slashing at its other wing.]
no subject
Of course, the raven's flight was jarred by the detective jumping onto its back, and the prosecutor instinctively shuts his eyes as the bird swerves and bucks after Raidou slashed its other wing. It was a good thing he wasn't sensitive to airsickness.]
Whoa - !
no subject
[The raven made desperate attempts to keep flying. Raidou hit it with the blunt edge of his katana, forcing it to drop further down; he didn't dare finish it off while they were still high up, where Edgeworth could fall to his death.
Once they were close enough to the ground, however, he thrust the sword right through the raven's neck.]
no subject
Aaargh!
[The impact was hard, but cushioned a bit by all the clothes that some laundrywoman had left outside to seek shelter. He groaned; he would have quite a few bruises soon, and it was difficult to raise himself up. Instead, he settled for looking up at the raven struggling and bleeding with Raidou still on it.]
Detective!
no subject
He barely had time to look up before a second raven swooped down and dug its claws into him. Hissing in pain, the detective struggled in the vice-like grip, to no avail.]
no subject
Let him go! Now!
[All he could do was use his Meister ability in the hopes of dissuading the second raven.]
no subject
By then his captor had snapped out of whatever confusion Edgeworth had caused, and took to the air with Raidou trapped between its claws.]
Edgeworth-san, take care of my partner! Please!
no subject
No!
[No, as in, "No, this can't be happening!"
He runs - stumbling on the first few steps - and tries to follow the raven's flight from the ground. If he confused it now, it could end up dropping the detective...]

no subject
[And yup, he just lost Raidou and the raven. Still, he keeps looking up even as he stops a short distance away from the laundry basket. Breathing hard, he stems the bleeding from his shoulders with his handkerchief, furious at the raven and furious at himself for letting it get away with Raidou.
The lady will just...claim her basket and run back indoors before he can apologize.]
