prosecutory: (♘ in a faraway field)

[Edgeworth had mentally prepared himself for this day, and made sure everything was arranged for his departure - the Agency, the condo he had shared with Genesis for months, their dogs, the thank-yous for the people he considered friends, allies, colleagues. He had learned so much, accomplished so much, but in the end, Death City was not where he belonged. The opportunity to return home was what he had been working for, and now, it was literally in front of him. Within the portal, he can see his city through the window of his office. He can see the inside of his office, exactly as it was.

The saber and pistol Genesis gave him are at his belt. The letter from his father, and photographs with him, are in his wallet. His collection of organizers and notes and records of his experiences of Death City were gathered in a satchel. Edgeworth was uncertain if he would forget everything here once he stepped into the portal, or if everything would remain. Well, it would help to have evidence. And perhaps...a few mementos.

He just stands there, staring at the portal but at the same time fully aware of Genesis close by. Genesis...he would never see him again, and while he would not admit it, the thought tugged painfully at his heart. His partner, his friend, his colleague...the man who stuck by him no matter what. The man he helped become a Death Scythe. The man who helped him harness his combat potential.

Edgeworth turns to face Genesis properly. Even now, when he was about to leave, Genesis (and the dogs) were there.]

...Thank you. [His tone is clipped, and he clears his throat afterward. Unconsciously a hand touches the hilt of his saber.]
