Battered and shaken, L wavered and started to sink before wrenching himself back to the pressing situation at hand. When he transformed back, he was likely to be bruised from the impact, and hopefully that was the extent of the damage, but just because he was made of steel didn't mean he was indestructible.

Light's relayed plan made its way to his thoughts as they sharpened and focused once more, and what was at stake in the risky wager was not lost on him. Light joining him underwater meant that the two of them were wholly vulnerable, and had only one chance to get it right; it carried with it that very real possibility of both of them getting torn limb from limb by beasts in murky depths.
