Edgeworth didn't need to give any commands. In fact, he just stood there watching the maggot charge toward them, watching it intently, sword held forward. Their enemy's actions were indeed so easy to read that when it was only several feet away and could close the gap by leaping, Edgeworth moved away to the side so precisely and gracefully that one might say he danced out of the way.
And in that same fluid motion, he whirled around and brought the Rapier blade down onto the maggot's neck - or at least, where its neck would theoretically be. It howled in pain and spat poison indiscriminately, but with Edgeworth at its side and not in front of it, he was out of range. As the maggot tried to turn, it found itself decapitated in two more swift and savage strikes.
Right after that, Edgeworth leaned against the nearest cave wall, breathing hard. Now that the threats had been dispatched, his mind was beginning to wander into fear territory. They were still underground, which was still not as safe as being above the ground...
