Edgeworth wasn't about to add an uncontrollable fire to the list of things that made him anxious in this cave, even if it could be to their advantage. After speaking up, he strode forward, wincing when the moving maggot let out a panicked shriek and reared up as if to spit more poison. The good news was that it did no such thing; the bad news was that it lunged toward them, prompting Edgeworth to leap aside, his shoulder colliding with a cave wall. He grunted as he felt the pain but nothing seemed to be broken or bleeding, and he managed to stay on his feet.

Edgeworth was now closer to the two maggots he had successfully commanded to stay still; not a good position considering his earlier decision, as the one on fire had been the maggot that had tried to attack him. Snarling, he let out his frustration on one of the hapless creatures that had obeyed his orders, beheading it with a swift swipe of the Rapier. The other was already beginning to move again, desperately fighting against his order.

And the one on fire was already hot on their trail. It had to go down first, so Edgeworth took the risk and ran toward the burning maggot, ignoring his throbbing shoulder.
