Edgeworth stood back when Genesis decided to knock. There was really no time to keep on arguing, now that they were so close, and he really didn't underestimate Genesis' fighting prowess at all. When the door opened, however, Edgeworth couldn't help but take a step back with a strangled gasp, bracing himself for what would come and getting ready to possibly grab Genesis who would hopefully get the message and transform -

He certainly wasn't expecting the door to just swing open and do nothing more. For a full second or two, the prosecutor remained rooted to the spot, staring at the threshold. When Genesis spoke up again, Edgeworth managed to move from where he was.
