Sarah waited for him to dive into a rattling one-sided conversation about the joys of his daughter, but they had had that debate when she had spoken to the girl. She couldn't imagine having a father so close in maturity level to one's child, but then again... she cut off that thought before it could take root and went back to signing papers. Let him rattle on about being a father, since he had least had a good daughter.

She hummed in acknowledgement when he mentioned he hadn't come to talk about Kaede, but she didn't look up as she worked her signature across the required line. This was harder than it should have been and she considered snapping the pen in half in revenge for her troubles.
