[Open] A Foolish Mistake
Characters: Lily Ivory and You
Location: Shopping District, Guest Businesses Building C (the one with Keroro’s shops and Northern Lights)
Rating: G
Time: April 1, afternoon
Description: After signing a lease for shop space, Lily takes a look around the building to see who her neighbors will be and what their clientele is like.
“Thanks.” Lily smiled as she signed the papers and accepted the keys from the real estate agent. After a final handshake, the man departed and Lily was left to take one more look around the empty storefront, now hers. Of the locations the realtor had available, this had been the best. In the shopping district, on the ground floor with another vacant space next to it in case she wanted to expand later, and with several other businesses already in the building. It would be perfect for her vintage clothes store.
It would still be some time before she could quit her job at the park. (And get away from the annoying sorcerer, alien frogs, napping wolf, and hungry bunnies that had plagued her gardening work lately. The Witch and her lion the other day had been the last straw in driving her to consider an alternate occupation!) But, as they said back in Texas, she was as happy as a gopher in soft dirt at the prospect of having her own shop once again.
Exiting the shop and locking it, she tucked the ring of keys into the pocket of her wide pink tweed skirt. She had worn the skirt along with a matching bolero jacket and a white blouse and had twisted her hair up into a loose knot for her meeting with the agent. Her usual canvas sneakers marred her otherwise business-like look but she had enough trouble attempting to walk in heels regularly. Trying to do so in the cobblestone streets here would have been a disaster waiting to happen!
Now to see who her neighbors were...
[Outside the building]
Perhaps, it was a bit silly but Lily couldn’t help standing outside and admiring her new space. She studied the storefront, imagining how it would look with a proper sign and window display.
There was also a restaurant called ‘Northern Lights’ a couple of doors down. From the flags hanging outside, she supposed it was an international theme. Maybe, she could inquire about holding a party there for her shop’s opening after she had a clearer idea of when that would be.
[Second Floor]
Lily climbed the stairs to the second floor and paused for a few moments but there seemed to be little reason to linger there. All three storefronts on this floor were empty. So, unless she encountered someone on their way up or down, she would just continue up the stairs.
[Third Floor]
Metokkori R, The Hikan Café... Those names sounded familiar... Had she heard them somewhere before? The Kero Cube...
Lily’s smile faded and she stared as she realized... “Dag nab it!” She’d just rented a space in the same building as that suspicious alien frog. Why hadn’t she insisted on looking around the rest of the building before she signed?!
She wondered if it was too late to run back to the realtor’s office and ask if the lease could be cancelled...
[OOC: Note where you want to run into Lily. Action or prose is fine! I’ll switch to match.]
