Since Lezard had gone quiet, Lily trudged the rest of the way down the slope to the tent in silence. There were new things for her to think about after encountering those demons. But for now, she would just focus on getting back inside.

The witch’s original intention of helping the injured had been nearly forgotten until she entered the medical tent. But it seemed that they returned during a lull and all the patients so far had already been tended to. So, she took the opportunity to slump into an empty chair.

Thinking that Lezard might have dozed off, she deposited the spellbook on a table next to her and then let out a small burst of soul energy to break the connection. Even though they were indoors now, the sudden disappearance of the warmth from their link made her shiver a little.

“We’re back,” she mumbled. And hopefully, that would be the end of their excitement for the day.
