Yet even before Fuuka spoke, the Judge felt his eyes open in alarm as he felt the first stirring of resonation flickering between them. He didn't hesitate in slamming up all of his walls, ignoring the flaring pain he felt in return, and instead of attacking the beetle as he'd planned, the Judge leapt back to put some distance between them.
"Then we need to retreat," he said before clenching his teeth. Shifting his grip on her weapon form, his fingers brushed over the device as the momentary consideration of simply releasing her and breaking the connection they'd formed, but he decided against it. He couldn't allow himself to stoop to such a dishonourable level despite his dislike for such situations.
