Kanji insisted on going first, pulling himself up from the pool and taking a look around in the dark, wiping his hair from his eyes before they widened at the sight of what was like a sea of stars on the walls and ceiling as they cast a blue light over the stone surrounding him.

But he heard movement down one of the tunnels ahead, and mentally kicked himself. They had some asses to kick and time to buy for those fighting further in. Setting aside his breathing gear, the sodden Meister stepped aside and pulled up his companions as they surfaced. The footing was a little shaky here, especially during the time it took the eyes to get used to this strange source of light.

Sure enough, his patience was far shorter than usual this morning, and that little headache in the back of his head wasn't helping. He tried to think of other things as his jaw clenched, working to push down that horribly familiar feeling from Florence.
