Characters: Lily Ivory and You
Location: Shibusen City Park
Rating: G for gardening
Time: March 3, all day
Description: The park’s gardener cleans up after the sandstorm, encounters a stray cat, and tends to the plants in witchy ways.
Two days earlier, Lily had the misfortune of being at work as Shibusen City Park’s gardener when the sandstorm struck. Today, she’s surveying the grounds with a groan. A coating of dust on all plants. Fallen leaves and broken twigs scattered all over. Seedlings battered by the storm. It was going to be a long day…
[1]
Lily spends much of the morning filling garbage bags with debris left from the other day’s storm and hauling them away. One bag that she’s dragging along tears and scatters garbage all over the ground. “Dag nab it!” Frustrated, she gives the offending bag a kick.

Sitting in the shade of a tree during a break, the witch attracts the attention of a stray cat. And since cats are contrary creatures, her attempts to shoo the coal-colored feline away only result in it coming closer. Lily shrinks away until she’s practically hugging the tree and continues to wave her hand at the cat. “Go away, cat. Scoot!” Of course, the animal doesn’t listen and Lily sneezes. Someone is allergic to cats…
[3]
After most of the mess was cleaned up, Lily tended to the plants, paying special attention to certain ones. When she became the park’s gardener, it had been with an ulterior motive in mind. The witch’s specialty had been brewing using the extensive collection of magical herbs and medicinal plants she grew on her terrace in San Francisco. But stuck in Death City and without her garden, she hadn’t been able to collect the ingredients necessary to brew anything. The culinary herbs available at the grocery store could only do so much by themselves and although she had found some others by foraging, it was still rather limited. As gardener, she would be able to put in more useful plants and there would be fewer questions if anyone noticed her snipping sprigs of lavender or rue.
When she thinks no one is looking, Lily pulls a flask from the pocket of her gardening apron. She leans close and feeds the plants tiny amounts of alcohol as she whispers to them of her hopes, dreams, and fears.
[OOC: Action or prose is fine! I’ll switch to match. I included 3 scenarios so indicate which one you’re using. Replies might be a bit slow; the latest novel in Lily’s series came out this week so I’m reading and making notes.]
