Description: A bunch of guests set out to find the legendary sword, not knowing what's in store.



[ The terrain is rocky and uneven and the trek is no easy task. Even when the goal's in sight, it's still far away because according to the book -- just up this cliff is Excalibur's cave. Looks like some teamwork might be needed to get up there. Not everyone can have a cool, floaty skateboard like Death the Kid. ]



(OOC: This log will be divided into two parts. The exploration, which is this log, and the actual encounter with Excalibur. I'll be making some subthreads for chambers to explore, but feel free to make your own threads and mingle! If you can dream it and it's annoying enough, Excalibur probably has it in his cave.)

[ Need some help climbing the cliff? Or maybe you already reached the top and you just want a group to move forward and explore with because safety in numbers, right? Those rocks to the left do look like a good spot for picnic, but don't take too long. You don't want to be left behind! ]

Fairy Pond

[ It's sparkling, pristine and filled with fairies. They're generally very nice if you want to talk to them, but if you mention Excalibur, they will probably make a very strange face. ]

The Grand Library

[ Books upon books upon books all lining the shelves in this chamber. So many books and they all seem to be written in the 12th Century. ]

The Grand Bathroom

[ ....why is there a huge bathroom in the middle of a cave? Is that toilet made of gold? ]

Excalibur's Sword Room

[ But really, this is where the goal ends. The legendary sword sits in stone just as the book depicted -- a ray of sunshine illuminates its golden handle.

Surrounding the rock is a ring of water and you're welcome to explore all around. Be careful, though. There could be traps. ]

[Just.....frowning at the entire bathroom. Especially the toilet. :/] ....This has gotta be one of the weirdest caves I have ever come across...

General Mingle

[And here's Sheena guarding the food, making sure whoever's hungry or thirsty gets enough. She really should have brought a second load for Natsu, since she can only imagine how much he'll need after that climb.]

[She's looking at the shower, herself.]

Yeah... we are still in the cave, right? BREW didn't move us or anything, did it?

I don't think so - although I have to say, it sure doesn't look like the cave for such a powerful and mighty sword.

No, it doesn't. [She's murmuring to herself.] Ummm...Is Excalibur like some of us? Able to change form? That might explain some things.

I dunno. I....guess he could be? If he's a legend, though, wouldn't he be pretty old?

[Looks at him and smiles.]

Trust me, age really doesn't have to with it. [Yep. Knowing 4000-year-old people tends to help.]

[[He hadn't been expecting a cliff climb in this expedition... And with only one arm with any real strength in it, he was pretty screwed for it, but is trying his best non the less.

[[Huh. Bakura actually... wasn't expecting it to be there to be honest. And is now very suspicious that it is. This was the part where the boss showed up for a cut scene that the party couldn't win, wasn't it?

[after the ordeal that was the giant cliff, qilby's only too happy to find... books! yes!!

he picks a few at random -- there are far too many to be picky about it -- and spreads them out on a table, practically salivating at the thought of the knowledge the old tomes must contain. if he gets nothing else out of this trip, this'll at least have made it worth it all. he leans over his spoils, inspecting the first few titles which look vaguely familiar and yet... not.]

Excalibur's Adventures in Wonderland... Dr. Excalibur and Also Mr. Excalibur... Excalibur's Guide to the Galaxy...

[le squint. well... this can't be right. but a few pages in the first of these stories, dubious variations on the most famous tales of this world, is enough to make it clear to qilby that--]

These are a crazy person's books! [says he, loudly, to whoever else is unfortunate enough to have taken a look at this crap with him. he sounds positively scandalized.]

[Carl is trying not to waste all of his film on the fairies, but it's hard not to when he's getting so many good shots of a creature from folklore. The flashes of his camera are creating a strobe-like effect. He speaks to any nearby companions.]

Careful, I've read about fairies before. They're more mischievous than malevolent, but it's said that they're masters of illusion. They could turn these caves into an endless labyrinth.

[Carl's examining the titles, as well, and he finds he must agree with that sentiment]

They all use the word Excalibur as though it's a person. Say, you don't suppose Excalibur is alive, do you? Could it be another person who turns into a weapon?

[His help comes in the form of Sheena, who takes the time to leave the food at top to aid anyone who needs it. And this young man looks like he does. She scrambles down near him, a coil of rope around her arm.]

[Oh, Giroro's being careful all right. He's carefully checking the cave for traps.

After all, no one would leave the most powerful Weapon unguarded like this. Except he hasn't found anything.]

[Giroro brought his own water, mostly because he needed a lot more of it than normal humans. So he was drinking from his own bottle.

No, you're not hallucinating: he really is a red, two foot tall alien frog.]

You doing okay? There's a bit of shade under these rocks if you need to rest.

[ Flora was a meister, and yet here she was, along for the ride anyway. Why? Well, mostly because Excalibur was a sword of legend. A legend even she knew about! How exciting!

She's lagging behind everyone else. Not because she's tired out or anything, but because she's taking in the sights. Someone might want to tell her to pick up the pace before she gets left behind or runs into a tree or something. ]
