He set his right hand up against Sephiroth's cheek when his partner was forced to look at him, and he knew within their link that Sephiroth could never resist his expression. It had always been a source of excitement, of breaking down even the best laid plans for a chance to engage him.
He shifted forward, wincing as his left arm bumped against his side, but he wanted to be closer as his right arm lifted to curl around Sephiroth's neck protectively. He knew his partner's greatest fear, and today was a perfect example on how deep it had taken root in the once unmovable man.
"It won't," he murmured softly, resting his chin against Sephiroth's head. "But you do realize that with maintaining what we have that we will have to delve into subjects that we have been avoiding for months." His fingers stroked the back of Sephiroth's neck. "To be stronger, we're going to have to face the past that we shared together."
