He could see the distress that Cloud was in, along with the immediate danger of the situation. Sephiroth knew that he couldn't allow himself to give in to the emotions threatening to spill out, that could come later once his partner was safe, since for now all that he focused on was getting his Meister to safety.

Cloud hadn't seen him, but judging by the panic he felt, the ex-General wasn't surprised. That didn't stop him from swooping in and tightly grasping the back of Cloud's sweater as his partner scrambled to stay alive. The weak link to the branches allowed him to pluck the blonde away from it, and even as his wing buckled and the muscles began to tear from the extra weight, he didn't allow for the pain to stop him from doing what needed to be done as he forced himself to fly them above and beyond Cloud's previous perch.
