Qilby was about to have to learn how to fight really well really fast, but by the grace of whatever deity watched over this world, that very suddenly stopped being an issue.
So suddenly, in fact, that the other man's appearance was enough to startle him right off his feet; he stumbled backwards, shouting in surprise and not a little bit of fright. The potential problems as he saw them were twofold: one, this person appeared to be partly a sharp object, and two, the man's slaying of the spider produced a fountain of more blueish blood than Qilby cared to see in a year.
He hit the ground, thankfully, not as hard as he might've and after that it soon became clear that this person was here to save him, not to steal another monster's kill.
"Thank-- thank you," Qilby managed to get out, after his heart got out of his throat. "I wasn't... I don't have a--" His words stopped dead once he got a closer look at the man.
