[for saitou, not having his own sword meant that he was naked. sure he could easily punch someone out in the face, gatotsu was a technique that was more versatile than people gave him credit for.

despite the fact that the people who once thought that were now dead.

so there he was, exploring town trying to find a good blacksmith that could craft a good japanese sword for him. though japan had been moving towards opening its borders to the outside world, saitou was perfectly content with their old traditions.]

[Kojuro, of course, was on patrol in the Shopping District, his Zone. He also had the pair of swords that Motochika had forged for him at his waist.

He nodded towards Saitou the moment he saw him approaching. It was only courteous.]

[A nod for his fellow Watch member, his eye catching the Japanese swords. Raising an eyebrow, he raises his hand to hail him.]

Fujita Goro, I used to be a policeman. [he tilts his head at the swords.] I'm in need of a katana, where did you get yours?

The Watch has a smith in its employ. One Chosokabe Motochika, a Zone Leader like myself. [A beat.] I know how to reach him on the network.

Is that so? Other sorts of swords are inferior, there's nothing that can beat a good Japanese one.

[forbearanced]

I must agree with there. [Ah, so good to be talking to a countryman...] You can contact Motochika on the network. Do you have your communicator on you?

[thrusts]

No, not at the moment. I like to patrol without disturbances. [that and have no way to communicate with him should they need to.] The information, however, will be handy.

We're in the 13th year of the Meiji Era. I think I heard some foreigners call it 1880.

So you are from a future point in time. I see.

[Saitou raises an eyebrow before he reaches into his pocket to grab another cigarette to light up.]

Forgive me if I don't call you senpai. But- what era are you from?

I believe it is what you would later call as the Warring States Period.

[thrusts]

[oh, he ... must probably think that his work was for naught.] Ironic, we're only 10 years past our own bloody revolution.

I'm assuming for what you fought for. [Funny how that is. Don't worry bro, Saitou fought for the shogunate.]
