[Closed] Maids & Death Gods
Characters: Ichimaru Gin, Toushirou Hitsugaya, Rhode Kamelot
Location: Deadly Pretty Maid Cafe
Rating: G (or PG for creepy dudes with silver hair)
Time: January 23, early afternoon
Description: An awkward accident of timing puts Gin and Hitsugaya in the same place at the same time- Which happens to be the place Rhode works at the time she is working.
Despite Rhode's fleeting hopes, the maid cafe had not been flooded or severely damaged by the earthquake, and she had been called in for her usual shift the day after the disaster. At least they'd managed to take care of the mess then; business was still a bit slow on the twenty-third, and she was pretending to sort menus while staring at the pastries set up for display in the lovely glass case at the front. If she was lucky, she'd be able to take home one of the strawberry shortcakes at the end of the day. After all, if there weren't any customers, there was no one else to eat the baked goods before they went stale.

Also he had heard Rhode worked at the maid cafe.
Not that it had much to do with why he was there the afternoon after an earthquake had (quite literally) rocked the city. Still, the idea of having Rhode sere him coffee was much more amusing than it should be.
This is exactly why he could be found sitting at a table in the cafe, awaiting a cup of coffee and an almond pastry.

Despite her reservations, she had a job to do. Rhode picked up the order that had been placed on the counter, taking a deep breath before putting on a sweet smile and heading toward his table. She even set his pastry and coffee down without making too much noise or attitude.
"Good afternoon, master. Is there anything else you need?"

The pastries better be good.
"That'll be all fer now, Rhode-chan!" He dismissed her with a sip of his coffee.

The first thing he noticed was the relatively low number of customers. It was to be expected, he knew, after what the city had been through. His eyes easily found Rhode at one of the tables and he blinked a little at her outfit. She wasn't kidding when she'd said the waitresses actually dressed like maids.
But as quickly as his gaze had found Rhode, it fell to the silver-haired man at the table she was addressing, and his eyes narrowed as quickly, chest tightening in anger. Ichimaru Gin. With all his efforts to avoid this man, it was now the second day in a row he'd ran into him. Was this on purpose??

Rhode started to snap, but the sound of the door opening cut off her nasty response. She turned to face the entrance to the cafe, expression shifting from annoyance to a slightly vacant, albeit sweet, smile.
"Welcome home!" She was picking up the menu from Gin's table as she started walking toward the door, taking a moment to imagine using it to swipe that coffee onto Gin's lap to add a bit of sincerity to her smile. When she finally looked at the new customer directly, however, she almost faltered in her steps. "Hitsugaya."
He was showing up a lot, wasn't he? First a hospital visit, now the cafe. Twice was probably coincidental, though. Unlike Gin, who seemed to be showing up for the simple joys of talking to her or pestering her.
"Where would you like to sit? Most of the seats near the window are open, but so are the seats everywhere else."

It's not until the Noah speaks a familiar name that his head snaps up and turns in the direction of the door. Oh, today keeps getting better and better for Gin. Setting the coffee down carefully in front of him, he waits until he's sure Hitsugaya has spotted him, then he raises his hand in a wave of greeting.

She was looking at him now and Hitsugaya felt unexpectedly flustered to make the decision to stay or go. It seemed stupid to just leave immediately after having just walked in the door. Muttering, he replied, "Anywhere is fine..."
As he looked at Gin now, eyes narrowing, he wondered it if would be possible to ignore the bastard while they were practically the only customers in here.

Hitsugaya didn't look pleased to see Gin at all, but there was some pettiness (and laziness) encouraging her as she did a cute little dip of a curtsy, flashing HItsugaya a smile and gesturing toward the table just across the aisle from Gin's.
"Why don't you have a seat right over here, Master? You can take time to look at the menu and tell me what you'd like to drink once you've settled in."

Not that Gin minded too much. It would just annoy Hitsugaya more, wouldn't it? He wondered why the other taichou had showed up in the first place. The maid cafe didn't really seem the type of place one would ever find him at. Rhode had spoken his name, though, hadn't she? Perhaps he had stopped by to see her.
Though she didn't seem the type of person Hitsugaya would befriend either.
Ahh well, for now it simply made his morning even better. He picked up the coffee with a smug look as he watched the boy from where he was seated.

"I'll just have tea," he murmured to her, furrowing his brow a bit. Maybe if he hurried through this, he could just get by without talking to Gin at all. This would be difficult, considering their proximity. Glancing at Rhode again, he spoke up, "And you don't have to say 'Master.'"

She straightened up, turning back to Gin and running a hand through her hair, trying to adjust her little headpiece and get her hair out of her face at the same time.
"Would you like some more water, Master?"
no subject
"Ya. Maybe some more food too." He sat back in his chair- as if he was thinking really hard about what to eat. He hadn't even glanced at a menu. Turning his attention back to the shinigami at the other table, he shrugged in his direction. "I'll have what he's havin'."
Then he went back to his coffee without looking at either of them.

She cast a pointed look at Gin's menu, bottom lip coming out just a bit. Even so, she moved to pick up the empty glass on Hitsugaya's table, as well as Gin's, pausing and looking to Hitsugaya when he snapped at the other man. Rhode almost asked him what he was doing, but she closed her mouth, looking between the two shinigami. Apparently this wasn't a very friendly relationship.

"I came 'cause I heard the drinks were good. Why else would I be here?" Sip sip. "I didn't even know Rhode-chan works here! She's cute in that outfit, ain't she?" A pause and another sip. "So what're ya doin' here anyway? I didn't think ya were big on sweets."
With that he turns his attention back to the girl. "I ain't sure yet." And he waved her away. It was clear Hitsugaya have a valid point about enjoying treating people as servants.
no subject
"I came to check in on Rhode," he replied coldly, also ignoring the person in question. He was able to defend her, sure, even admit that he'd come to see her, but the actual act of speaking to her and being waited on by her was far more difficult than arguing with Gin, he was finding.
no subject
"I am very cute. In any outfit."

Pushing the water aside, he went back to his cup of coffee, finally letting his eyes fall on the girl sitting across from the smaller shinigami. He didn't have anything to add, though, merely watching now.

The more he looked at Gin, the more irritated he felt so he fixed his gaze on Rhode still. "Does he come in here to bother you a lot?" he asked her irritatedly, going with the assumption that this was bothersome.
no subject
"This is his first time. He was a bit less bothersome when I wasn't working, though." She cast a mildly condescending look at Gin before letting out a quiet (but dramatic) sigh. "Neither of you bothered to mention that you knew each other."
no subject
He leaned back in his chair, pastry in one hand, and gave a shrug.
no subject
"I mentioned someone from my world who I wanted to kill," he answered without any hesitation. Gin knew exactly where they stood and didn't care, from the looks of it. "I didn't think to specify because I didn't know you knew him."
no subject
"You're both hopeless. Why do you want to kill each other?" She paused, remembering who she was talking to. "Or rather, why do you want to kill him, and why don't you care about him wanting to kill you?"
no subject
"Am I meant ta care?" Gin looks genuinely confused, before he takes another bite out of the pastry. Lots of people don't like him, possibly want to kill him, he's not sure why Hitsugaya in particular would bug him. "It ain't as if he's able ta kill me here anyway."
