[OPEN] Earthquake Event

Characters: OPEN
Location: Death City
Rating: Varied
Time: Jan 22
Description: OOC post here.

It's early in the morning -- just after morning training -- when the ground beneath Death City shakes violently in what most of you might recognize as an earthquake. It's not a particularly huge one for the more experienced of the guests, but it sends cracks shooting through the cobblestoned ground of Death City and up the sides of some buildings. A small handful of structures, mostly those that have been abandoned in the course of this war or the very old ones, take the most damage and topple over or crumble at their foundations.

The earthquake lasts no more than half a minute, but the vibrations and aftershocks last through the day. Death City's streets become full of holes, from those the size of apples to what could be described as deep ditches. The greatest damage, however, is the commercial sector, which becomes flooded as the waterways take damage and spill water into the streets. Shibusen's alarms blare out and quick, urgent orders to fix the waterways and search for the injured or anyone trapped in rubble filter in through all networks.

[Everything starts to look the same after a while -- there are some sectors that still look pristine except for a few hairline cracks here and there (very alarming hairline cracks, mind you), but then there are the ones that are nothing but piles of rubble and milling confused people.

Oh, and water, of course. Water, water everywhere.

It's nothing but a sea of confused people and rubble and water and cracks and water and strange large cats in green coats on lamp posts and water and-- wait a minute.

It does take Allen several long moments to register the fact that that's... not exactly a cat. It's doing a very good impression of a distressed one, though, right down to the familiar golden eyes.

After a few moments' staring and hesitation, here he is, wading on over.]

... Hello there. Are you... [part-cat?] all right?

[Nepeta risks a glance down when she hears someone from down below. Her eyes fall on the small human and she gives him an embarrassed smile but shakes her head. His face was an unfamiliar, if friendly looking one, but no amount of friendliness is going to get her down from this pole and anywhere near that water.]

D-don't like water.

[That was about the best he was going to get from the usually friendly and chattery troll.]
briochetime: (I think that counts as a FML.)

I see.

[He's still torn somewhere between bemusement and... more bemusement, because he's not sure what else he expected from the strange grey people with horns, but catlike behavior was certainly not one of the things.

It only stands to reason, though, that like humans they would have some variety.

Still...]

It seems like it would be uncomfortable to stay up there until the water recedes. [He brushes himself off a little, completely uselessly because you don't brush water off.] If you'd like... I can help you someplace dry...?

[Don't laugh at her :((. She looks down at him, and then around her. She's not sure exactly how he will do that--will he carry her? Not that she thinks he will drop her deliberately but even doing so by mistake is a possibility. He is right, however, she can only stay up here for so long.]

Do you think you can manage? Like. Fur sure?
